Netflix Just Released The Trailer For The New “All Quiet On The Western Front” Movie, And…

…it looks like it’s going to be a big winner.

All Quiet On The Western Front was one of the books everybody had to read for high school history classes, but unlike a lot of the others it wasn’t dry or boring. The characters were relatable and their experiences were heartrending.

They’ve made the book into a movie twice already, the first being the classic film in 1930 and the second, an underrated 1979 remake starring Richard Thomas, Ernest Borgnine, Donald Pleasence and Ian Holm.

But this looks like it’s going to be more from the German perspective, and as you can see it’s in German.

And honestly, the German stuff on Netflix is better than the American stuff. For some interesting reason, filmmakers in Germany aren’t wrapped around the woke axle. There are no black German soldiers in this version, it appears, and there is reason to believe we aren’t going to get any of the usual cultural appropriations – inserting gays or trans people or whatever, the way Hollywood can’t stop doing.

This film looks like it might be supportable. We’re hoping it is.
