The Shocking Truth About Electricity
Electricity is one of those magic things that is so ingrained in our lives we never think about it until we don’t have it. We were fortunate when Ian passed through we only lost power for 24 hours, but it doesn’t take long for things like your refrigerator and A/C to be missed.
The U.S. power grid is one of the most vulnerable in the world. Based on data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), it consists of 7,300 power plants, approximately 160,000 miles of high voltage energy lines, millions of miles of low voltage power lines and transformers which connect 145 million customers. The grid is made of three regions. The Eastern, Western and ERCOT, a Texas independent system. While the regions can disconnect from each other, if one region fails tens of millions of people would be without power for a potentially extended period of time.
The vulnerability of such a complex system does not just exist from external threats. Yes, hacking, and other attack methods are worrisome, but now based on energy related policies, a grid collapse could be initiated from within.
Since taking office, the Biden administration has turned their backs on traditional energy production methods, as well as reality. They have strongly pushed the “New Green Deal,” within such, the transition to electrical vehicles is a major focal point.
Beside the fact that the price of these cars are outside of the budget for most Americans, a simple battery replacement is also too exorbitant.
That said, a forced transition could be disastrous to America’s power grid. Last August the White House set a target date of 2030 to have 50 percent of all sales to be electric vehicles. Currently, there are 2.5 million in use, which is already causing a strain. In some estimates by 2025 there could be as many as 20 million on the road.
According to the U.S. Energy department if that occurs, there would not be enough available power to handle the load.
The problem with these starry-eyed ideologies is they are not based in reality. Liberals are so caught up in a climate change delusion that they have convinced themselves that electric vehicles will solve everything.
However, where is the electricity going to come from?
In 2021, Fossil fuels, the very source the left is trying to eliminate, was the largest source of electricity generation.
Natural Gas: 38%
Coal: 22%
Petroleum: Less than 1%
Nuclear Power: 19%
Renewable Energy: 20% (Consisting of: Hydro Power 6.3%, Wind Power 9.2%, Biomass 1.3%, Solar Energy 2.8% and Geothermal Power .4%)
Only the left could hatch a plan where they increase the drain on something while simultaneously reducing the source. These extremists are not only morally corrupt, their policies jeopardize our very way of life.
