Woke-Loving WalMart Now Chirping A New Tune
Well, Well, Well. Wal-Mart, lover of everything left and hater of anything Christian, has suddenly inhaled the smelling salts of reality.
On Tuesday, Wal-Mart CEO Doug McMillon Appeared on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” and appeared to have awoken from a self-induced, woke slumber. McMillon flatly stated that thefts are historically high, and if they don’t stop and the thugs aren’t prosecuted it will cause prices to skyrocket and some stores may have to close.
Although McMillon didn’t name locations that may be forced to close, you don’t have to be Nostradamus to realize that Democratic run cities with catch and release criminal policies are most at risk.
A prime example is Los Angeles, where stores have been forced to both partition off sections of their pharmacies and lock up inventory which is normally not under lock and key. For example, in some locations men’s underwear is locked in a plexiglass case, something you would normally see in the jewelry section. Now if you need tidy whities, you have to wait for an associate to open the case.
The CEO states that working closely with local law enforcement is part of the solution.
“I think local law enforcement being staffed and being a good partner is part of that equation, and that’s normally how we approach it. It’s store managers working with local law enforcement, and we’ve got great relationships there for the most part.”
Great relationships aside, if law enforcement makes arrests, but the criminals are almost immediately back on the streets with no consequences, the cycle of crime continues.
In the case of Los Angeles, the blame for this falls directly on the shoulders of moronically woke District Attorney George Gascon.
Gascon has essentially crippled the city’s justice system. He has limited sentencing enhancements that would allow for additional time to be added to a criminals stay in prison. Gascon does not allow juveniles to be charged as adults, no matter how vicious the crime. In fact, this Marxist has actually labeled tough on crime policies, racist.
Los Angeles Police Department statistics indicate that burglaries are up nearly 13 percent and car thefts are up 8.1 percent. Personal thefts have jumped almost 14 percent and overall crime in Los Angeles has increased by 7.4 percent.
Los Angeles is not the only major city suffering under a crime wave due to liberal policies. San Francisco, Chicago, and New York are other examples where thieves go essentially unpunished. These feeble laws do nothing to protect the general public and only enhance the probability of creating reoffenders.
Wal-Mart has shown some reluctance to reveal exactly how bad the shoplifting problem has been for them. However, Capital Counselor has estimated their losses to be approximately $3 billion per year.
Wal-Mart is not the only retail chain that is suffering. Target, which is considered to be Wal-Marts main competition has reported shoplifting losses of $400 million this year, which represents a 50 percent increase year over year.
You have to wonder how long it will take for these elitist liberals to wake up to the fact that these crimes do not take place in a vacuum. There are consequences and sadly, it is the innocent public that suffers the unfair results.
