Grand Valley State University Holds Five Separate, Segregated Graduations
There is nothing “Grand” about the divisive decision being made by Grand Valley State University (GVSU), a “Public” university in Michigan. Disregarding the hard-fought battles of the past to eliminate segregation, these woke liberals have decided that dividing the students by race and gender identity will in some way benefit society.
The separate ceremonies will be held in addition to its regular commencement. Groups receiving this special treatment include students that “identify” as Black, Asian, Latino, Native American and LGBTQ. However, there is no special ceremony for White students or Heterosexuals.
In typical liberal fashion, the school tried to defend their actions. Wrapping their feeble excuses in flowery lies about equity and diversity, woke buzz words for discrimination and division.
“Under the leadership of our volunteer faculty/staff associations and with student organizations, Grand Valley hosts graduation celebrations annually designed to honor our diverse graduates aligned with university commitments to building a culture of educational equity. For most, these more intimate celebrations are a complement to GVSU’s traditional Commencement.”
“While each celebration provides learning opportunities to specific communities, all activities are open to all students and employees. The majority of graduating students who participate in one of our affinity group graduation celebrations also choose to participate in our larger commencement ceremony.”
On the university’s website, the school wrote this:
“Complementing our school and University-wide ceremonies, these events provide a more intimate setting for students and guests to gather, incorporate meaningful cultural traditions and celebrate the specific contributions and achievements of their communities.”
After hearing about the schools decision, Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton tweeted the real truth about why this was taking place:
“The endpoint of critical race theory: Segregation. The problem is not just one woke university embracing discrimination. Critical race theory is being pushed on our kids at school, it’s peddled by HR departments at corporations, and the Biden administration has embraced it under the guise of racial equity.”
There seems to be this overwhelming belief that saying NO to this type of nonsense will result in repercussions. When will America wake up and realize that this is “The tail wagging the dog.” These people are nothing more than a loud-mouthed minority that need to be told to sit down and shut up.
They have absolutely NO right to impose their beliefs and in many cases perversions on the vast majority of society.
Can you imagine schools in the 1960’s using cultural equity as a reason for segregation? Separating Black and White students in classrooms and providing different bathrooms and water fountains so each race could “identify, gather and incorporate meaningful cultural traditions and celebrate the specific contributions and achievements of their communities.”
It’s a ridiculous excuse. It wouldn’t have been tolerated then, so why is it allowed to be celebrated now?
This isn’t progression, it’s regression. This isn’t unity, it’s division and it certainly doesn’t represent equity in any way.
It’s more than time for the “Silent Majority” to say enough is enough.
