AOC Lies About Libs Of TikTok Creator Chaya Raichik Who In Turn Catches AOC In A Classic “Gotcha” Moment
This was too good to let slip by without writing about it. It’s rare when an individual has the opportunity and the guts to personally confront a member of Congress. If they do, it’s generally about a difference of opinion over policy. However, it’s even rarer and much sweeter, when a person can confront a member of the House over something personal. That’s exactly what happened last week when Chaya Raichik, the creator of Libs of TikTok, confronted AOC.
The whole thing started when at a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing on February 8th, AOC confronted a former Twitter executive, claiming that Raichik had lied in a 2022 tweet when she claimed that Boston Children’s Hospital:
“is now offering gender affirming hysterectomies for young girls. Are you aware… that from August 11th to August 16th that account posted false information about Boston Children’s Hospital claiming that they were providing hysterectomies to children?”
AOC then added, “and are you aware that this lie was then circulated by other prominent far-right influences?”
Raichik’s 2022 tweet was in response to a video of a doctor who was speaking about hysterectomies, although in the video age of the patients was never mentioned.
In a nine-page ethics complaint, The Heritage Foundation approached the Office of Congressional Ethics, seeking to have them open a full investigation into Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Democrat from New York. The complaint implicates AOC of both, “falsely accusing” and “defaming” Chaya Raichik. The complaint points out that AOC violated a House Ethic rule by:
“knowingly and intentionally defaming Chaya Raichik, creator of the viral Libs of TikTok account, falsely accusing her of lying, and disseminating disinformation.”
Within the complaint, The Heritage Foundation noted that on the hospital’s own website it states that gender affirmation surgery is performed on “eligible adolescents.” It also noted that the Journal of Clinical Medicine, has documented that the hospital “has “performed 65 double-mastectomies on minors over the course of three years.”
Heritage has also gathered additional information that shows gender affirmation surgery had been performed on patients as young as fifteen. Although, it notes that the hospital has very “quietly changed its website to reflect that genital surgeries are only performed on patients aged 18 and older.”
Heritage argued:
“Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s accusation that the tweet contained false information is itself outrightly false on its face. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez knowingly made this allegation in bad faith. Ocasio-Cortez recklessly blamed Ms. Raichik and her tweet for the actions of other people reacting to Boston Children’s Hospital’s video, claiming that it fueled threats and harassment towards the hospital and its staff and incited violence against trans and LGBT people.”
You may be wondering what the complaint is asking for as far as AOC is concerned? Basically, nothing more than a slap on the wrist will come of it. Raichik and Heritage want AOC to be reprimanded, they want the accusations stricken from the public record and they want AOC pressured to offer an apology to Raichik.
Whether or not any of that happens, who’s to say? Personally, I doubt that anyone will hold AOC’s feet to the fire. Especially since it would be hard to do without catching her hair on fire, since her feet are so often in her mouth.
Still, this story is already priceless because of what happened when Raichik delivered the complaint to AOC’s office. When they arrived, AOC wasn’t there. So the complaint was handed to one of her staffers along with Raichik’s advice to tell AOC “to stop lying about American citizens.”
Now the best part. As Raichik was leaving, who does she run into, …. you guessed it, AOC herself. AOC, clearly thinking that Raichik was an admirer, nestled in next to her. That’s when Raichik, smiling the whole time, informed AOC that she had just delivered an ethics complaint to her office, because she had lied about her.
AOC, clearly stunned by this turn of events, indignantly stammered out:
“You’re actually super transphobic and I never want to share a space with you.”
Too late, you just did, and the video of your six-year-old, spoiled child reaction, will live on in infamy.
