It’s Way Past Time To Start Treating China Like China Treats Us

On Monday of this past week, it was reported that two men were arrested in lower Manhattan for operating an illegal “police station.” The two culprits were identified as Harry Lu Jianwang, 61 and Chen Jinping, 59. Lu and Chen are charged with operating a provincial branch of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), for the People’s Republic of China.

In case you are confused by the label of “police station” it’s an office that is set up in a foreign country to suppress those that may be critical of their home government. Assistant Attorney General Mathew Olsen, of the Justice Department’s National Security Division, explained it this way:

“The PRC, through it’s repressive security apparatus, established a secret physical presence in New York City to monitor and intimidate dissidents and those critical of it’s government. The PRC’s actions go far beyond the bounds of acceptable nation-state conduct. We will resolutely defend the freedoms of all of those living in our country from the threat of authoritarian repression.”

U.S. Attorney Breon Peace, for the Eastern District of New York, added this:

“This prosecution reveals the Chinese government’s flagrant violation of our nation’s sovereignty by establishing a secret police station in the middle of New York City. As alleged, the defendants and their co-conspirators were tasked with doing the PRC’s bidding, including helping locate a Chinese dissident living in the United States, and obstructed our investigation by deleting their communications. Such a police station has no place here in New York City – or any American community.”

Acting Assistant Director Kurt Ronnow, of the FBI Counterintelligence Division, also chimed in.

“It is simply outrageous that China’s Ministry of Public Security thinks it can get away with establishing a secret, illegal police station on U.S. soil to aid its efforts to export repression and subvert our rule of law. This case serves as a powerful reminder that the People’s Republic of China will stop at nothing to bend people to their will and silence messages they don’t want anyone to hear. The FBI is dedicated to protecting everyone in the United States against efforts to undermine our democratic freedoms, and we’ll hold any state actors, and those who help them, accountable for breaking our laws.”

Obviously, China has no respect for us as a country or our laws. Still, there was more troubling news to come. On Wednesday a Madrid based group known as Safeguard Defenders warned of other locations across the U.S. A spokesperson for the group told the New York Post:

“We found at least four listed in the US by PRC public security authorities, plus flagged an additional four overseas Chinese service centers in the US set up by the UFWD (United Front Work Department) networks responsible for manning the stations.”

These stations are reportedly located in Houston, Texas, Los Angeles and San Francisco, California, along with cities in Minnesota and Nebraska and a second in New York City.

Add these revelations onto the fact that several senior U.S. officials now believe that the Chinese spy balloon did collect and transmit sensitive information that was collected from U.S. military bases.

So you have to ask yourself, why then do liberal Democrats continue to roll out the red carpet for them? No matter how glowingly they are portrayed, the CCP’s intentions are always subversive.

The latest “Mistake on the Lake” is gearing up to take place in Michigan, under the unprincipled and devious guidance of Governor Gretchen Whitmer. On Thursday, Democrats authorized $175 million dollars of taxpayer funding for a Chinese backed vehicle battery plant. The measure passed by a 10-9 vote, with all Republicans and three democrats voting against it. The plant would be located on 700 acres in Big Rapids, Michigan.

Whitmer announced in October that the facility, owned by transnational company Gotion, would be investing $2.36 billion dollars for construction of the plant and surrounding facilities. She added that it will create over 2,300 jobs.

“It is the biggest ever economic development project in Northern Michigan and will shore up our status as the global hub of mobility and electrification. Together, we will continue winning investments in this space and become the preeminent destination for electric vehicle and mobility companies. We will work with anyone and compete with everyone to keep bringing supply chains of batteries, chips, and electric vehicles home to Michigan.”

That all sound fine except for one major issue, …. It’s China.

A group of state senators including Kevin Daley, Lana Theis, Dan Lauwers, Joe Bellino and Ed McBroom have petitioned their state’s congressional delegation to investigate Gotion High Tech Co., LTD and its subsidiary.

In a letter penned by the senators, they wrote:

“We are writing to urge you to use all federal resources available to immediately investigate whether Gotion High-tech Co., Ltd., as registered on the Swiss Stock Exchange, has ties or contracts with foreign countries that have an adversarial relationship with the United States of America. In light of the time sensitivity of this matter, we kindly request that you work to take swift action. Your prompt attention to this issue is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to hearing from you soon.”

The group also pointed out that, “In addition to the company’s direct ties to the CCP, which presents a national security risk, the plan has come under scrutiny for its secrecy and lack of oversight, which may present environmental and public safety risks as well.”

The group of senators are leery of the $175 million dollar figure. Stating that the deal, which largely crafted in secret, could actually result in $800 million in state funds being used.

In addition, the National File also released a report that Gotion had released a statement praising their partnership with the Taliban. The National File report stated that:

“The representative of the company thanked the leadership of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum and asked for an investment in the lithium sector of Afghanistan and said that he wants to invest $10 billion in the Lithium Mines of Afghanistan, which will provide employment for more than 120,000 people directly and one million people indirectly.”

This is reminiscent of a corn milling plant that was scheduled to be built by another Chinese company, Fufeng, outside of Grand Forks, North Dakota. That contract was subsequently cancelled and is now in litigation. In that case, the proposed plant was only 12 miles from the Grand Forks Air Force Base.

You would think that after what we now know about TikTok, spy balloons, dissident repression centers and the constant hacking conducted by the CCP, no-one would sell ANY property to a company affiliated with China. Every time I hear about a deal like this, I wonder about the espionage that’s taking place behind the scenes.

Gretchen Whitmer and politicians like her need to be reminded that they were also elected to protect their citizens from attacks of all kinds.

You can’t walk with God when your holding hands with the devil.
