How God’s Children are NOT for Sale: Sound of Freedom

On July 3rd, I decided to take a rare trip to my local movie theater to watch the Sound of Freedom movie on its opening day. I first heard about this movie through social media as Conservative media outlets have hyped up this film in recent weeks. So, I decided to give the film a try and see what it’s all about.

After I left the theater, I came to the belief that I witnessed one of the greatest films ever made–no exaggeration. So, it felt proper to write an article about Sound of Freedom and why every American patriot needs to see this film.

For context, the Sound of Freedom movie was not produced by a large Hollywood studio (i.e. Angel Studios), so it didn’t possess the large marketing budget that large film studios like Disney have. Thus, the massive success and wide-scale promotion of this film is quite remarkable!

From my view, divine providence had a role to play in this movie’s success–especially when you consider how the movie was nearly shelved in its entirety. According to the film’s producer, Disney originally owned the rights to Sound of Freedom several years ago, but Disney wouldn’t allow the film to go to theaters. Fortunately, crowdfunding investors through Angel Studios helped bring this movie finally to its July 2023 release years after the movie was finished.

So then, you may wonder what Sound of Freedom is all about. This movie is based on the true story of Tim Ballard (played by Passion of the Christ actor Jim Caviezel) and his efforts to end child trafficking. This film particularly focused on a 2014 raid that Ballard led–which saved over 100 children from sex traffickers. Additionally, the film’s engaging narrative focused on two particular children he saved–a young brother and a sister. This poignant, captivating story kept me on the edge of my seat for the film’s entire 2 hour duration.

Besides the humanitarian aspect of Ballard’s heroic deeds, the film also emphasized the major role that Ballard’s faith played in his decision-making. Two iconic line from the movie stuck out to me regarding the film’s spiritual them: “When God tells you what to do, you cannot hesitate!” and “God’s children are not for sale!” Those two lines of dialogue served as the foundation for all the actions that Ballard and the other God-fearing characters made throughout the story!

Overall, this movie sheds a light on the enormous evil of child trafficking. Over 1 million children across the world are trafficked each year, and the child trafficking industry is sadly a growing, multi-billion dollar industry.

The world will remain a dark place until godly men and women across the world work to end the scourge of child trafficking. Here is a video recorded by Mel Gibson– in which he highlights the importance of spreading awareness about this major issue:

My personal hope is that this movie also opens the door to a tough conversation that must be had–the fact that America’s ruling class turns a blind eye to child and human trafficking–particularly at the US Southern Border.

Back in 2019 op-ed, Ballard himself stated “.. the building, expansion and strengthening of the border wall has been one of many effective tools, and will continue to be an effective tool, in the rescuing of trafficked children.” Our nation’s elite ruling class/Regime knowingly allows human trafficking to occur through the Southern border, and the one political leader we can thank for working to combat human trafficking at the Southern border is President Trump.

Moving back to the movie, Sound of Freedom completely shocked the movie industry on its opening night. Against all odds, the Sound of Freedom movie defeated the newly-released Indiana Jones movie in the box-office. It grossed millions of dollars more than Indiana Jones on July 4th–which was the opening night of Sound of Freedom–for a total of $14 million.

Besides the monetary success, the Sound of Freedom has received both audience and critical acclaim. As of the article’s release, the Rotten tomatoes site shows an audience score of 100%! Quite an accomplishment.

In closing, I definitely recommend every single America First, Christian patriots to go support this film. This film holds the potential to truly change American culture toward a more pro-Christian, pro-human direction through this powerful story.
