RADIO: DeSantis’ Struggles And White House Cocaine Communism

This comes from Monday morning, when I was a guest on 560 AM’s The Morning Answer Show with Dan Proft and Amy Jacobson for a fun segment.

Two main topics were at hand.

The first was the continuing struggles of Ron DeSantis’ campaign to hold or gain any traction in the GOP primary. As I wrote yesterday, this isn’t really something that reflects DeSantis’ poor performance on the campaign trail or anything his team has done – right now the bulk of the Republican Party is behind Donald Trump. Period. And DeSantis is essentially Trump 2.0 – possibly an improvement on Trump, but possibly not.

I said that DeSantis has the same problem that a number of the Republican candidates in the field in the Louisiana gubernatorial race this fall are running into – the state’s Attorney General, Jeff Landry, is polling at 30 percent in the jungle-primary race and the Democrat, Shawn Wilson, is polling in the 20’s. There are four other Republicans running, most of them are seen as conservatives like Landry, and none can get much traction because their base voters are also Landry base voters and those voters like Landry better.

DeSantis has that problem in dealing with Trump. Unless the Trump voters fall off him, which can happen but DeSantis can’t make it happen (nobody really can; it’ll be events-driven if it does happen), he really can’t win. It’s not his fault that he can’t do the impossible.

And maybe that’s the box the GOP is in – Trump can’t lose in the primary and can’t win the general – or maybe it isn’t. We’ll just have to find out.

Also, that bag of cocaine at the White House. I have a theory about it – you’ll just have to watch the segment to find out what it is!
