Someone Please Give Ben And Jerry Two Scoops Of Brains Topped With Common-Sense Sauce

Like many of you, when I think of the Fourth of July I picture cookouts with lots of food, family, and fireworks. Naturally, some of that food includes desserts, and being a hot month, ice cream is always a popular choice.

Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Holdings Inc., trades and is commonly known as Ben & Jerry’s. An American company that manufactures ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbet. The company was founded in 1978 in Burlington, Vermont. The company then grew from a single ice cream parlor to a multi-national brand over the course of several decades.

Sounds like an all-American success story to me. I mean two guys starting with a $5 correspondence course in ice cream-making from Penn State and a $12,000 investment, ($4,000 of it borrowed), Ben and Jerry opened their first ice cream scoop shop in a renovated gas station in Burlington, Vermont. Thatโ€™s the kind of thing that can really only happen in this Country. You would think that they would rejoice in that fact, but yesterday, on the day when America celebrates its independence, they instead demeaned the very Country that enabled their dreams to become reality.

In a 4th of July message that frankly demonstrates a lack of intellect, the double scoop of ignorance tweeted that July 4th celebrations:

โ€œdistract from an essential truth about this nationโ€™s birth, the United States was founded on stolen Indigenous land. This Fourth of July, letโ€™s commit to returning it. Start with Mount Rushmore, that is the meaning of Independence Day for those whose land this country stole, those who were murdered and forced with brutal violence onto reservations, those who were pushed from their holy places and denied their freedom. The faces on Mount Rushmore are the faces of men who actively worked to destroy Indigenous cultures and ways of life, to deny Indigenous people their basic rights.โ€

On their website, it states that, โ€œWe love making ice cream – but using our business to make the world a better place gives our work its meaning.โ€

The Ben and Jerry mission statement is shown as:

โ€œWe believe that ice cream can change the world. We have a progressive, nonpartisan social mission that seeks to meet human needs and eliminate injustices in our local, national, and international communities by integrating these concerns in our day-to-day business activities.โ€

Right. Translation, there is no such thing as a progressive, nonpartisan social mission. That is an agenda. You have gained success in a country that supports and encourages people becoming successful. Now that you have a platform, you think that you have the right to promote that agenda, even if it is based on a foundation that is as soft as your ice cream.

My understanding is that your ice cream has sort of a cult following. I myself have never tried it and your narcissism and ignorance have now guaranteed I never will.

I believe at last count you had 98 flavors worldwide. Thatโ€™s a lot, but I would like to suggest two more. First, I know you have a flavor called Urban Bourbon. I think you should now add โ€œUrban Bonfireโ€ as a tribute to your support of BLM. Next, having a โ€œSโ€™moresโ€ flavor is nice, but I suggest you should also offer โ€œSโ€™moronโ€ as a personal salute to both of your mentalities.

Happy 4th of July
