Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Unless You’re White, Christian Or Heterosexual

It has to be said, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) is a curse that is subversively killing America. From corporations to schools, the Country is rotting from the inside out and the parasite is the radical, liberal, woke, left.

Appleton East High School, located in Appleton Wisconsin, is a perfect example of the “woke version” of DEI. The school believes that hosting a back to school “Meet and Greet” would be a good thing for incoming freshmen.  Unfortunately, not “all” students are welcome. According to the original flyer, which was posted on the school’s Facebook page, the meet and greet was only for “people of color,” who were also encouraged to bring their whole families since food was being provided.

Does this sound like equity and inclusion to you? Segregation, yes. Equity, no. Inclusion, no. Woke diversion, …. Absolutely.

Dan Lennington, deputy council for the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL), a legal and policy center promoting limited government, liberty, and education reform agrees. “The flyer on Facebook clearly said that there was going to be a freshmen orientation that was only open to freshmen of color. This is obviously racial discrimination. There’s no justification for this.”

Lennington explained, “The school district is part of the government and it’s not allowed to discriminate based on race under the U.S. Constitution and several other laws.” In response to the posting, the group sent a letter to the school insisting that they remove the post and threatening legal action.

The school has never explained why they planned the segregated event. However, The Appleton Area School District released the following statement which also does not answer that question:

“We know how incredibly important it is for our incoming freshmen to transition into high school successfully, and because of this, our high schools hold several events to help incoming 9th-grade students, and their families, feel comfortable and confident in their transition. The events range from multiple days devoted to School IDs and Picture Days; to an Open House for students and families where students can walk through their schedule, meet teachers, and learn about co-curricular opportunities; to freshman orientation activities created by that school’s Link Crew; to a specialized schedule and orientation for freshmen on the first day of school. This year we added an additional event where freshmen students and their families could attend a meet and greet with the Cultural Advisor, have a meal, and take a tour of the building. All of these events have the purpose of setting students up for success in their high school careers and connecting with the staff that will help them to ensure that success.”

In an attempt to understand the unexplainable, the local Fox 11 news station reached out to several diversity, equity and inclusion coordinators seeking their opinion. Outagamie County’s EDI officer, Major Cooper, offered this lame reason and explanation:

“From an EDI standpoint, we all know historically that students from marginalized populations and their parents/guardians face so many barriers entering secondary school systems. These populations include BIPOC students, LGBTQ+ students, students who are recipients of Disability Support Services, students from a ESL household as well. I do think that allowing the students and parents to come into the school on a specific night and learn about all the resources that Appleton East offers is a great jumpstart to Freshman year. Where I think the controversy came up is the specific words that were used. As we all navigate this EDI lens we must be aware that words matter and can be interpreted in different ways. This flyer being one of those ways where depending on your cultural background and even the trauma you have faced because of your identity can have you read this as it being controversial and negative. I do believe the purpose behind this was for a positive effort, it was just demonstrated or shall I say written not in the best taste. We all need grace as we navigate this EDI journey.”

Specific words?  Specific Words?  Yes, there were specific words used, and those words were very clear and very discriminatory. Not only was the flyer, disgustingly racist, but Cooper’s words only expanded the discrimination. By making the outrageously insensitive statement that:

“From an EDI standpoint, we all know historically that students from marginalized populations and their parents/guardians face so many barriers entering secondary school systems. These populations include BIPOC students, LGBTQ+ students, students who are recipients of Disability Support Services, students from an ESL household as well.”

So according to Cooper, only BIPOC children or LGBTQ students and their parents have had a rough go of it. If you’re white and heterosexual, your life can’t possibly have hade any issues or problems. You can’t possibly deserve anything, the woke left has determined who gets special treatment and if you’re white, Christian, and straight, you don’t make the list.

The pressure and bad press must have worked, because the school eventually issued this statement:

“The Appleton Area School District has clarified the intent of the Freshmen Meet and Greet with the East Cultural Advisor and emphasized the event is open, and has always been open, to all incoming 9th-grade Appleton East students and their families. This clarification was shared earlier this week, on Tuesday afternoon, with Appleton East 9th-grade families. We also reminded East families of the four additional opportunities for 9th-grade students that have the purpose of setting them up for success in their high school careers and connecting them with the staff that will help them to ensure that success.”

The truth of the matter is this. If this specific school and the school district that it was located in, did not receive a lot of criticism, this racist, discriminatory, event would have taken place. White students would have been demonized and all others would have felt empowered.

There is a place for DEI, or EDI, or however the woke zombies want to rearrange their alphabet discriminatory, grooming practices. It isn’t suitable for society, but it is perfect for the being firmly jammed into the lower end of their digestive evacuation tracts.
