Conservative Reporter Roughed Up By Police

Conservative reporters and journalists are becoming endangered as the liberal’s attitude towards them becomes more and more Gestapo like. In modern day Canada, under the leadership of a spineless, liberal, and vengeful leader like Justin Trudeau, they’re not even hiding it anymore. Something Rebel News reporter David Menzies would learn firsthand.

The incident took place at a memorial service commemorating the victims of Flight PS752, which was shot down by the Iranian military four years ago, the Rebel News reported.

Menzies was attempting to interview Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland. As she and another woman were walking along the sidewalk, Menzies was walking with them as he was asking her questions. “Ms. Freeland, how come the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is not a terrorist group? Why is your government supporting Islam?”

Suddenly, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police Officer (RCMP) purposely moved in front of Menzies to obviously block him and deliberately bumped into him. The officer immediately grabbed Menzies, pushed him against a wall and told him “You are being arrested for assault.”

The officer, lying through his teeth, then alleged that Menzies had “pushed him.” However, the entire incident had been filmed and it is more than obvious that this entire episode was orchestrated, and that Menzies had done absolutely nothing, except attempt to do his job.

During the entire ordeal, Menzies continued to speak on camera.

“Welcome to [Justin Trudeau]’s Canada,” Menzies said as he was being detained. “This is what they do to journalists. I was merely trying to scrum Minister Freeland and the RCMP officer blocked me, and evidently this is a trumped-up charge of assault, folks. I came here to do my job and now I’m handcuffed.”

As he was being led handcuffed down the sidewalk, Menzies continued to highlight the paradox of the situation. He was there trying to find out why the Canadian government had not designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization, and for just asking questions, he was the one being arrested.

According to Rebel News, Menzies was held in the police vehicle and was not taken to jail. He was later released, but the intended intimidation was complete.

Ezra Levant, the founder of Rebel News, expressed outraged over the incident and stated that legal action is in RCMP’s future.

“We’ve got a lawyer on the case right now. We don’t yet know if David will have to post bail or when his first court appearance will be. But we need your help.”

Levant is a former lawyer himself.  He along with another top lawyer, Guidy Mamann, are adamant about fighting this ridiculous charge. Levant explained that they were conducting a follow-up report on Patrick Brown, the Mayor of Brampton, who was previously caught by Menzies playing in private hockey games while public arenas were shut down for the general public.

According to Levant:

“We intend to fight this like hell, and to investigate the role of Patrick Brown, the mayor, as to why a whole squad of police cars were dispatched to arrest a peaceful journalist. That doesn’t sound like a police decision. That sounds like a political decision.”

He then added this:

“If Patrick Brown thinks that arresting David will stop us from investigating his misconduct, well, they simply don’t know David as well as I do.”

The video of this ridiculous miscarriage of justice is so blatantly absurd that the officers involved need to be dismissed. Police will tell you that the reason why they search so hard when an officer is shot, is because if a person will shoot a police officer, a symbol of authority, they will shoot anyone.

Well, the same can be said for this. If police will arrest a truth-seeking journalist while the incident is being filmed for political reasons, then no-one is safe from this type of persecution. This was blatant harassment and has justifiably raised questions about freedom of the press in Canada.

One citizen posted this observation on X:

“Palestinian protesters can block roads, harass Christmas shoppers and threaten elderly white people skating at Toronto city Hall. No arrests. Only white people are arrested for daring to question authority.”

He’s not wrong. This is more than a bad look for Canada and the RCMP, this raises questions about both intent and integrity.
