A Guilty Verdict at the Sham Hush Money Trial Won’t Likely Hurt Trump for Multiple Reasons
Many on the left have continued to degrade America in new and more concerning ways since former President Trump was elected in 2016. From pathetic impeachment attempts, absurd indictments, and even an attempt in Colorado to have the Republican nominee taken off the ballot, many in the Democratic party will do anything to keep Trump from returning to power.
Today, with closing arguments ending and jury deliberation beginning in the sham hush-money case that is being brought in New York City, a nearly 60 percent Democrat enclave with relatively few Trump supporters, we see the pinnacle of this abuse.
The fact remains that none of the Democrats’ other cases against Trump in Florida as well as Atlanta and the D.C. Circuit remain likely to go to trial before the November election, since the Supreme Court hasn’t even ruled on Presidential immunity yet, and Judge Cannon has also already delayed the absurd classified documents case against the former President. The current pathetic New York case brought by Soros funded left-wing District Attorney Alvin Bragg in a Democrat city is the only trial Trump is likely to face before the 2024 presidential election.
The polls also show this current sham trial is also unlikely to have any substantive or negative impact on the former President. According to even a recent CNN poll, only 13% of Americans were following the trial very closely. A poll by AtlasIntel also showed that 84 percent of Republicans view the charge being brought as politically motivated. While a Reuters poll suggested that 25 percent of Republicans and 60 percent of independents would not vote for Trump if he was criminally convicted, that sampling was not as specific as the other polls that contradict these findings. The Reuters poll simply asks about a criminal conviction in a general sense, and this New York case being brought by a Democratic DA in a heavily left-leaning political enclave is not remotely close to a standard case.
There is also no victim in this or any of the other cases being brought against Trump. Stormy Daniels got paid after voluntarily agreeing to accept the payment Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen made to her, and any dispute over the agreement between the parties would be a civil issue, not a criminal one. Cohen has also made a mockery of the judicial system by doing tiktok videos and TV interviews weeks before giving his discredited testimony.
A guilty verdict would also likely help Trump in multiple ways. The former President has already been gaining with black voters, many of whom are unhappy over inflation and large illegal immigrant communities being placed in their neighborhoods. Trump’s talk of a two-tiered justice system is likely to resonate with some black voters as well.
Moreover, the case against the former President is also likely to unify the Republican party and further energize his base. Even most moderate Republicans view the current trial as politically motivated, and the core Trump supporter rightly views these trials as a persecution of the former President. Jeb Bush even came out and condemned the recent indictments. Indeed, Trump is the only victim in these trials, there are no human victims in any of these cases that have been brought.
The weak and politically motivated current case against Trump that is being brought by New York DA Bragg in a heavily left-leaning enclave is more likely to help Trump than hurt him. The case is not being followed by most Americans, and a guilty verdict would likely serve to further energize the conservative base without impacting Trump significantly with independent or swing voters. An acquittal or hung jury would also likely benefit the former President, since he could use either of those two outcomes to argue the courts vindicated him. A conviction would also not keep Trump from remaining on the ballot, and he wouldn’t likely face jail time either, since this is the lowest level felony under New York law and he would be a first-time offender.
The current Presidential race will still likely be decided at the ballot box, not by corrupt judges overseeing sham trials. That’s good for America, whether Joe Biden’s team likes it or not.
