California Reasoning: Century-Old Joshua Trees To Be Destroyed For Solar Panel Project

There is an old adage that I have referenced many times. I’m sure you’ve heard it. It’s very simple but also very true. My dad told it to me, and I’ve tried throughout my life to be aware so I don’t fall into the trap the adage warns of.

“When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.”

California is a state that cannot get out of its own way. If you apply the adage to how California reacts, they not only don’t stop digging, they also bring in an excavator.

In a recent column, I wrote about how a group of influential individuals suggested that implementing carbon taxes is necessary at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, earlier this year. They also mentioned that the required framework to implement these taxes is already in place and must be implemented. It was also noted that obtaining more funding and reaffirming the global necessity to combat climate change will be crucial at the upcoming COP29 and COP30 events. However, the previous climate forum, COP28, faced challenges as the meeting’s president acknowledged that there was no scientific basis for the fast-paced fossil fuel phaseout agenda.

There is an expression that says if you tell a lie long enough and often enough, people will believe it. By their own admission, there is no scientific basis for the fast-paced fossil fuel phaseout agenda. In other words, the entire story is being fabricated.

The Earth is estimated to be 4.54 billion years old. Like other planets, it was formed in the early days of the Solar System, which began to form about 4.6 billion years ago.

The Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research in the U.K. has some temperature measurements beginning in 1850. Still, scientists have insufficient data before 1880 to estimate average temperatures for the entire planet.

So, the planet is 4.54 billion years old, and we have accurate temperature readings for less than 150 years. There is no such thing as climate change, and we need to shoot down these lies at every opportunity.

Undaunted, though, and armed with a very large shovel, California is now planning to destroy hundreds of beloved Joshua trees for a sprawling solar project that pits environmentalists against environmentalists. Keep in mind that California is doing this even by the woke left’s own admission. There is no scientific basis for the fast-paced fossil fuel phaseout agenda.

A renewable energy company is set to clear thousands of protected Joshua trees just outside a desert town. These include many that are thought to be a century old. The clearing is for a large solar project to produce power for 180,000 homes in affluent coastal neighborhoods.

The 2,300-acre (3.6 square miles) project has upset residents of Boron and nearby Desert Lake, two small Kern County towns where the poverty rate is twice the California average. Residents say their worries about construction dust and the destruction of the mostly unspoiled land that serves as a habitat for endangered desert tortoises have been disregarded by the county and state officials who greenlit the project.

Not surprisingly, rural communities are the ones usually having these insane measures shoved down their throats. The controversy surrounding the Mojave Desert project illustrates the trade-offs being made in California as state and local government officials advocate for a rapid expansion of clean energy. While solar and wind fields are anticipated to contribute to climate change mitigation, which doesn’t exist, they also involve the disturbance of undeveloped land, posing a threat to endangered plants and wildlife. This has raised concerns in nearby communities, many of which are small and located far from the state’s urban areas.

What I, and I’m sure many of you are finding mind-boggling, is that the word that the left always uses is “renewable.” Well, how do you “renew” a Joshua tree that is over a century old?

A 2,300-acre solar panel project will be unsightly and unproductive and is only being built to satisfy the leftist egos that refuse to follow science. These are the same people who refuse to accept the fact that there are only two genders and are gleeful when a child who is too young to decide what they have for dinner is mutilated, attempting to change the unchangeable.

The left is now eating its young to stay true to their agenda. They are choosing to literally destroy the environment for their pipe dream of saving an environment that isn’t endangered.

We cannot allow this madness to become routine and mundane. The woke left consists of dangerous radicals who are hell-bent on destroying society and life as we know it for a self-serving agenda.

These trees have survived for a century, overcoming everything nature could throw at them. It would be a shame if what ultimately destroys them is a faction of radicals screaming at the top of their lungs that their destruction makes the planet a better place.
