The Republican Congress Makes Their Most Important and Best Move in 3 Years By Holding Merrick Garland in Contempt

One of the most important and powerful functions of Congress is the body’s oversight responsibilities. While the legislative body controls the purse and has the ability to pass legislation, these bills still need to be approved by the Senate, and signed by the White House. The oversight responsibility of the House and Senate is critically important to protecting the American Republic for many reasons, especially when the Executive branch is consistently committing clear and obvious abuses of power as we are seeing today with the corrupt and failed Biden Administration.

Merrick Garland has weaponized the Justice Department and destroyed the confidence of most of the country in the rule of law in ways that are completely unprecedented. The partisan and ruthless Attorney General has targeted anti-abortion activists, imposed absurd sentences on even low-level January 6th offenders, refused to prosecute left-wing agitators trying to intimidate Supreme Court Justices by showing up at their homes, and also indicted Trump. Even though the current effort by Congress is to hold Garland in contempt over a key audio tape that he has refused to release without any remotely credible legal reasons, this vote will be the most serious action by Republicans to hold both the Attorney General and the Justice Department accountable for disgracing this critically important institution.

The contempt resolution is also important because this will help Republicans hold the White House accountable for the clear cover-up over Biden’s failing cognitive state. As I detailed in a previous article on former Special Counsel Robert Hur’s findings in his investigation into Biden, the US Attorney made a clear finding that the current President is not fit for office. Biden could not remember when he was Vice President or even the year his son died when talking to Hur in two separate sessions over multiple days. The special counsel described the President’s memory as hazy, poor, and having significant limitations. Hur’s report concluded Biden had likely broken the law, but a jury would not likely convict a mentally failed old man. The US Attorney concluded a jury wouldn’t convict, so he advised against bringing charges.

Even though there is overwhelming evidence that the Biden crime family has been getting money from China and many other foreign governments and corrupt corporations for years, Republican efforts to expose the failing cognitive state of the former President are likely to be more effective politically. The public sees Biden failing both physically and mentally, and the fact the former President rarely speaks in public and can’t even make basic media appearances, like a normal super bowl day interview with left-wing media outlets, is telling. This contempt resolution shows the lengths the White House is willing to go to in order to cover up the President’s failing cognitive state. Even if the court does not order the Justice Department to turn over the audio tape to Congress so the public can hear for themselves how unfit Biden is for office, this vote highlights the issue and also holds Garland accountable.

Joe Biden is 81 years old and he would be the oldest President in US history if he were reelected. The current President is obviously failing cognitively. In just the last year Biden has claimed to talk to multiple European leaders who died years ago and confused countries as well. The President has also repeatedly fallen down and struggled physically to perform basic tasks. Biden is incompetent, corrupt, and not fit for office, and this contempt resolution is key to holding both the White House and Garland accountable for the clear cover-up. This vote is also important for sending a message to the corrupt Attorney General that Republicans can and will use their power to hold him and the Justice Department accountable as well.
