Why No Snooping On Snopes, Time To Fact Check The Fact Checkers

The term Fact-Checkers has become an oxymoron. It is selectively used to reinforce falsehoods on way too many occasions. Remember the Russian collusion hoax? Hunter Biden’s laptop was also supposedly a Russian plant. How about the Covid “plandemic?” On that subject, you can take your pick of lies that were “fact-checked.” The Wuhan lab leak was poo-pooed as was using Ivermectin as a viable treatment.

There are hundreds more examples; these are just a few. However, these were not “facts” that were checked and verified. This was “misinformation” that was kept viable by organizations like Snopes, PolitiFact, Logically, etc., that did nothing but pour gas on a fire that should never have been burning.

The irony is that “misinformation” has become a buzzword for the left. They would have you believe that all Conservatives do is spew “misinformation” to confuse an issue. This misuse of the term is not just a cause for concern, it’s a source of frustration. To Democrats, misinformation is anything that they disagree with. Once they decree something to be misinformation, left-leaning platforms like Snopes come along and “verify” the lie.

Of all the lies that the left and the MSM have told, the one that confused me the most was the quote they attempted to pin on Trump concerning the melee that took place in Charlottesville. The reason I was dumbfounded by that particular incident is that I repeatedly watched the video of what Trump said, and it was more than obvious that what the left and Snopes were accusing him of saying wasn’t true. I mean, your eyes and ears don’t lie.

That particular lie was used because of the timing of the incident. Biden actually claimed that the quote that never happened was one of the reasons he ran for president. Looking back on it now it is quite telling. Biden used a lie to enter the race, which helped him conduct a deceitful campaign and then a sham of an election “placed” him in office.

Even more interesting is that now, just before a presidential debate, Snopes has admitted the obvious: They were wrong to attribute the quote that never happened to Trump. It’s a nice gesture, even though it’s seven years too late.

If you’ve forgotten, there was a clash in Charlottesville, Virginia, over the future of statues honoring Confederate heroes. Violence broke out when hundreds of white nationalists and their supporters gathered for a rally to oppose the removal of a Confederate statue and were met by counter-protesters. This led to Virginia’s governor declaring a state of emergency.

There were clashes between the white nationalists and counter-protesters at the “Unite the Right” rally at a park formerly named after Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee. The rally was deemed unlawful. During the event, a vehicle drove into a crowd of counter-protesters marching through the downtown area before speeding away, resulting in one death and leaving more than a dozen others injured.

In the aftermath of the incident, the MSM, Snopes, and others claimed that Trump referred to the neo-Nazis as “very fine People.” However, anyone who watched and listened to what Trump actually said would have heard the truth. What he actually said was that there were “very fine people” on both sides of the debate.

In other words, well-meaning Americans could have reasons for believing that statues of Confederate figures should remain in public view, unrelated to the pro-slavery beliefs of the Confederacy or the horrifying ideas of neo-Nazis.

It’s entirely possible that they believe in honoring all of American history, including the good, the bad, and the ugly. They may simply believe that the reckless destruction of historical artifacts is not the behavior of civilized people. By doing so, they will not change history and will only eliminate our ability to reflect on the past.

Snopes never explained why, after seven years, they chose to come clean and tell the truth. What we do know is that within the first few minutes of Crooked Joe’s video announcing his presidency in 2019, he cited the supposed quote that was attributed to Trump. In fact, The Washington Post reported at the time under the headline: “For Joe Biden, Charlottesville defines the Trump presidency.”

An overly dramatic Crooked Joe added in his video:

“With those words, the president of the United States assigned a moral equivalence between those spreading hate and those with the courage to stand against it, and in that moment, I knew the threat to this nation was unlike any I had ever seen in my lifetime.”

Well, Joe, if that mirage of a quote was the greatest threat to our country you ever saw, then you must have slept through the entire Obama administration. Your inability to separate fact from fiction is noted but is not admirable.

Your entire presidency has been based on lies and deception. Your inability to govern has placed our nation in greater danger than at any time within the past eight decades. You have simultaneously weakened our borders, ruined our status and respect worldwide, and destroyed the moral fiber within our nation.

Jimmy Carter, even at the ripe old age of 99, is standing and applauding your performance. Known for years as the worst president ever, he was delighted when Obama was elected, dropping him into the second spot. Now, he is thanking his lucky stars to have lived through your debacle as a puppet president, which moved him into the category of third worst.

Now, Carter is viewed as the weakest, Obama as the most devious, and you as the being totally clueless. All are bad, but you, Joe, are the cherry on the top of a corrupt Democratic sundae.

It’s time to go, Joe, and take your “Lie Checkers” with you.
