Republicans Must Demand A Special Counsel To Independently Investigate Trump Assassination Attempt

The left investigated Trump for everything when he was President. From the Russia hoax to the two separate sham impeachment attempts, the Democrats did anything to undermine him.

Republicans have only controlled the House since 2022, but leaders such as Jim Jordan and James Comer have generally done a good job exposing corruption in the FBI and IRS with hearings on a number of issues, including with whistleblowers.

This is why the Republican response to the failed assassination attempt on Trump where a shooter got less than 150 yards from the former President has been disappointing.

The FBI should not be allowed to have any role, let alone take the lead, in the investigation into what happened at Butler. The systemic corruption at the Bureau has been well-documented for years. The FBI furthered the Russian hoax investigation, targeted nonviolent pro-life protestors, and suppressed Hunter Biden’s laptop while also falsely labeling the device Russian disinformation.

There has also been zero accountability at the FBI. The Biden administration even restored the pension of disgraced former assistant Director Andre McCabe. The Bureau also retaliated against the whistleblowers who came forward to expose corruption at the FBI, delaying security clearance reviews to keep them from getting other jobs despite many of them having families and children to support.

This is why it is disappointing that Republicans have not called for the appointment of a special counsel so the assassination attempt on Trump can be investigated independent of the FBI. A team of law enforcement officials who do not work for or answer to the FBI should be the ones who are investigating what happened in Pennsylvania on Saturday. While most people who work at the FBI are good and honest individuals, the leadership of the organization is completely corrupt and incompetent, and at the very least the culture of corruption in the Bureau will likely prevent a serious and thorough investigation. Republicans should request a special counsel be put in charge just as Mueller and Hur were appointed to investigate the assassination attempt, and the people the special counsel brings in to investigate the assassination should not have to answer to anyone at the biased and corrupt Bureau.

If Trump was assassinated the United States would have faced some of the most difficult times in our country’s history. The fact that Crooks came within inches of assassinating the man leading in the polls to be the leader of the free world shows what happened at Butler is one of the worst security breakdowns in the history of the United States. People in the power structure made a concerted effort to create an environment that nearly enabled the murder of President Trump, and the evidence strongly suggests that there was a wider plot to assassinate the former President. Republicans should not allow the same corrupt and incompetent administration that failed to protect former President Trump to investigate the failed assassination attempt on his life.
