The Media Tries Covering Up Dem Civil War As Obama Uses Surrogates To Attack Biden

Many Democrats have never had any problem eating their own. Since 2016 we have seen how desperate most on the left are to keep former President Trump out of power. In just the last 8 years, we have seen sham impeachments, politically motivated indictments, and even a completely fake Russia hoax investigation. Many liberals have been willing to resort to anything to keep former President Trump from returning to the White House, and some Democrats have ruthlessly attacked anyone who has made even somewhat favorable comments about former President Trump since 2016. Liberals such as Chris Mathews and Katy Tur have been relentlessly attacked for simply providing context to attacks on Trump. Mathews was even forced out of MSNBC shortly after saying Trump’s rise to power was not based on racism, even though the former left-wing TV personality was never remotely close to a supporter of the former President.

Obama and most liberal elites never really respected Biden. The former President didn’t even endorse the former Senator for Delaware until very late in the Democratic primary, and Obama clearly preferred Hillary Clinton to Biden in 2016 as well. The Democratic Party establishment only rallied around Biden after Bernie Sanders established himself as the likely nominee if the moderate wing of the party did not consolidate support around one candidate. The Democratic party tolerated Biden because they saw him as their best chance to beat Trump in 2020, but many on the left did not see him as anything more than a one term President.

This is why the recent Op-ed by long-time Obama friend and Democratic party donor George Clooney, as well as the comments by several high-level Obama administration officials, carry extra importance. Clooney recently wrote a scathing op-ed that was published in the New York Times suggesting that it was time for Biden to step down. The actor discussed how Biden was not the same person he knew in 2010 or even 2020, statements that are blatantly obvious to any remotely objective observer who has followed the current President for some time.

Several key Obama advisors, Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett and Tommy Vietor, also all attacked Biden on a podcast for his poor debate performance and weak subsequent interview with ABC. New reports are also that Clooney discussed his op-ed with Obama before writing the piece, and Obama did not in any way try to dissuade the actor from publishing the article. Michelle Obama has refused to campaign for Biden over the past year as well. Former President Obama doesn’t want to call publicly for Biden to step aside because he doesn’t want to cripple the current President politically if he remains the nominee, so the former President is hiding behind his friends and surrogates.

Many on the left never respected Biden, they just saw him as useful since he was the strongest candidate the party could run against Trump in 2020. Even though the President has been showing obvious signs of cognitive decline in public going back to Democratic primary in 2020, when Democratic voters in Iowa and New Hampshire rejected Biden in part because of his mental failings. Now that Obama and the left don’t see Biden as useful anymore, they are pretending that they weren’t aware that he has never been fit to lead or serve at any point in his four-year term. The individuals on the left attacking Biden’s diminished mental capacity also have no credibility, since they said nothing for 4 years until the current President’s poll numbers dropped.

The civil war in the Democratic party that is now occurring is also deeper than Biden’s candidacy. New polling data shows that nearly 50 percent of younger black men are leaning towards Trump, there is a divide between the younger and older generation. Many older Democrats such as Jim Clyburn are remaining loyal to Biden, while many in the younger generation want to see Kamala Harris or other candidates get their turn. Even if Biden drops out at this point, the conflict between the older and younger generations within the party is likely to have negative ramifications for the party, and the current infighting occurring won’t likely subside anytime soon.
