After Five Years, “Scholars” Can’t Define “Sex” Or “Gender” Now I Can’t Define “Scholar”

In the immortal words of the previously befuddled and stammering puppet that occupied the Whitehouse, … C’mon Man!

An international group of snowflakes that consider themselves “scholars” spent five years and $4.2 million studying what sex and gender are, and guess what? After all of that time and money, they can’t define either. Hell, I could have answered that question in five minutes for considerably less money.

The European Union funded the research, which begs the question, why? Are they saying that they could not handle this question? They are admitting that they have no clue about sex and gender, which frankly is terrifying.

The firm they hired is called “Gender-Net Plus,” which is an obvious misnomer since they have no idea about sex or gender. However, this group of clowns started their propaganda in 2018 and funded 13 transnational research projects with nearly 400 researchers from 12 countries. According to a grant agreement, the European Union awarded GENDER-NET Plus almost $4.2 million.

That said, even though this group of radical con artists were unable to define “sex” or “gender” after studying the topic for more than five years, they nevertheless concluded that both concepts should be incorporated into all academic research going forward. Now, if that isn’t leftist open-ended propaganda, I don’t know what it is.

As the various projects under the GENDER-NET Plus umbrella concluded, 40 researchers met for a two-day workshop in November 2022 to “share experiences, discuss challenges, and consider the best ways forward to incorporate sex and gender in research,” a summary of which was published as “Integrating Gender Analysis into Research” with 16 co-authors in The Lancet. The authors are affiliated with some well-known universities from across the globe, including Yale, Oxford, and McGill.

What the left doesn’t understand is that the name-dropping of these universities used to make people take their findings seriously. Now, all it brings is eye-rolls and dismissal since their ultra-liberal stances on everything have come to light.

“It has become increasingly important to integrate considerations of sex and gender into all branches of research to boost accuracy, provide high-quality science, improve reproducibility and generate innovative, equitable and inclusive findings,” reads the report, which was published online in July. It concludes, “we hope to advance consideration of intersectional sex and gender integration in all research.”

Despite arguing that “all fields of study” should consider “biological and sociocultural differences,” the report was unable to provide a clear definition of either term.

Translation: They are so clouded with radical left bureaucracy that they are never going to find an answer. First, these scholars have lost their way and are brain-dead to reality. Second, nothing entices a leftist group more than appeasing those who are paying them, and finding such arbitrary results satisfies their salivating needs and all but guarantees another “in-depth” study.

While several initiatives have been taken to improve study design descriptions and reporting in the scientific literature, existing databases and resources often describe sex as either male or female and gender as either woman or man — oversimplifications which are no longer appropriate,” reads the report, further stating that “care should be taken to avoid suggesting that ‘sex’ is a simple binary; doing so misrepresents the diversity of humans.” The report suggests that “sex” may be “more appropriate” in research focused on “biological features.”

Similarly, the report was unable to define “gender,” suggesting that there cannot be a standardized measure of “gender” because the items and instruments to be used need to be evaluated and determined depending on the study objectives. The report also states that though it may be tempting to create a single centralized authoritative voice, such as guidelines, doing so runs the risk of being dogmatic, political, and contrary to scientific freedom and debate.

Recommendations in the report for future research include:

  1. “Define sex and/or gender (and specify the relevant dimensions) as they will preliminarily be understood for purposes of the research,” 2) “Qualify or adjust definitions/language based on factors involving participants,” and 3) “Emphasize why the terms (and definitions, operationalizations, etc.) have been chosen and how they bear on the research question or findings, being mindful of any real-world impact.” The report further encourages the use of “gender-neutral language” when referencing a person or group “of unknown or indeterminate gender.”

According to the report:

“Important obligations of gender-aware researchers” include “gender-responsiveness,” ensuring the research group is diverse, and evaluating parental leave policies. The report suggests that employing diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in research will advance a “gender-sensitive approach.”

The report argues that:

“researchers and knowledge producers” hold “a position of privilege and power” and are “afforded a certain level of trust. Therefore, they must ask whether their research could “inadvertently harm the population or specific communities, groups, or individuals” and further consider “how the findings that result from their research may be interpreted.”

“An intersectional and gendered approach to research is inherently tied to a commitment to social justice, equity, and gender equality.”

The bottom line is there are two sexes, ….Period. Even the little boy in the movie Kindergarten Cop knew that. Remember his famous line:

“Boys have a penis; Girls have a vagina.”

Gender refers to the socially constructed characteristics of women and men, such as norms, roles, and relationships among and between groups of women and men.

Gender is flexible, but only to the extent that it still revolves around the biological sex of the person, which never changes. A woman is always a woman; her roles may change, but she is still always a woman. A man will always be a man; he may assume different roles, but he will always be a man.

What we all need to evaluate isn’t what we know to be fact about men and women; we need to scrutinize who we refer to as scholars and what we need to believe about what they say going forward.

Frankly, sex and gender never need to be redefined, but the term “Scholar” needs a significant overhaul. Scholars don’t avoid the truth, and they don’t manipulate it. What scholars do is expose and reinforce the truth. It may not get them another payday, but true scholars love the REAL truth, not the leftist version of it.
