State Rolls Out Red Carpet For Illegal’s Home Ownership

I am proud to be a citizen of the United States. Being one is important to all of us and means something special. Every citizen is obligated to pay taxes and obey the country’s laws. We, as citizens, are expected to contribute and assimilate constructively into society. So, how is it fair to offer those who have entered this country illegally the same and sometimes better opportunities than those who are fulfilling their obligations as legal citizens?

California, the state that birthed Kamala Harris’s Golden Goose career of privilege for her and other radical types while walking over American Citizens with phony DEI rhetoric, has slapped Americans in the face again.

In a totally unjustified move against our own citizenship, The California Senate Appropriations Committee has approved a bill to expand the state’s zero down, no payment home “loan” program to undocumented immigrants, which the legislature says would create “significant cost pressures.”

“The social and economic benefits of homeownership should be available to everyone. As such, the California Dream for All Program should be available to all,” wrote bill author Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula, D-Fresno. “When undocumented individuals are excluded from such programs, they miss out on a crucial method of securing financial security and personal stability for themselves and their families.”

The outrageous bill, titled AB 1840, has already passed the Assembly and awaits a floor vote in the Senate. If approved, it would prevent California’s Dream for All Shared Appreciation Loans program from denying individuals based on their immigration status. This program enables applicants to obtain “loans” of up to 20 percent of a home’s purchase price, essentially serving as a zero-down-payment state loan with no payments required.

The state’s “loan” given to undocumented immigrants can be repaid when the home is refinanced, sold, or transferred. In these cases, the borrower needs to repay the original loan amount plus 20 percent of any increase in the property’s value. However, it’s uncertain what would happen if a family chooses to keep the home for an extended period, as there are no specific provisions on the duration for which a property can be held. This loophole could potentially allow the loan to go unpaid, especially if certain types of trusts are used.

The Appropriations Committee analysis warned the expansion would create:

“unknown significant cost pressures, potentially in the millions annually, to provide additional funding for the Home Purchase Assistance Program to accommodate the expanded eligibility population.”

This year, 18,000 individuals applied for the $255 million “loan” program through a lottery, leaving 1,700 lucky winners with up to $150,000 each towards down payment and closing costs.

California seems to have a very short memory. This is how the global financial crisis of 2007-2008 began. The program to provide down payment assistance for less qualified individuals is widely blamed for contributing to the housing bubble by increasing housing prices and lowering the quality of loan recipients.

Democrats tried to blame George W. Bush for everything, even though he begged them for six years to fix Fanny and Freddy before the burst. They blocked him at every turn, and to this day, they still try to blame him for it.

Currently, the median home price in California is nearly $1 million, which requires a household income of over $200,000, or more than triple the median household income, to afford it.

Also, a company in Oregon has decided not to let California be the only one to shed brain cells and screw American citizens. Hacienda Community Development Corporation is offering $30,000 to buy a home, but only if you’re a non-citizen …  Americans need not apply.

The state of California and this liberal corporation in Oregon are being openly prejudicial against American citizens. This is “Left-Think” at its worst. Financially, California is currently in horrible financial shape, and decisions like this will only serve to run more of its already skittish tax base into other states.

It’s time for rational thinkers in California and all blue states to pack a bag and move back to reality. Otherwise, all your hard work will be disregarded, and your tax dollars will be spent by politicians who don’t care about you on illegal aliens who care even less.
