Oh, Canada! NY Times Canadian Born Snowflake Calls U.S. Constitution A Threat

It’s no secret that the U.S. has some real problems at the leadership level. That said, Canada has nothing to brag about and certainly has no right to throw stones at our country. Trudeau is a mega-liberal lunatic who has made it his personal goal to destroy the “Land of Maple Syrup.”

The liberal rag known as the NY. Times has a reporter on the staff from the “Great White North” who has never heard the adage “Those in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.” Instead, she gathered up a whole fistful of them and decided to throw them at all things the American Constitution.

The ignorance of Jennifer Szalais’s column is profound but not surprising. Szalais is a bespeckled prune-faced liberal who looks constipated most of the time. She penned the article “The Constitution is Sacred, Is It Also Dangerous? “One of the biggest threats to America’s politics might be the country’s founding document.” It’s a seemingly innocuous question with an inflammatory subtitle.

Interestingly, Szalais is one of three book critics on staff. She reviews nonfiction books for the left-leaning rag, so it’s questionable why she put the Constitution in her sights. She was born in Canada and attended the University of Toronto, where she studied political science and peace and conflict, but apparently not very well.

Critics like Szalais and those she cites overlook the perspectives of time, comparative government, and practical philosophy. Yes, we don’t elect the head of our government by national popular vote. However, very few modern democracies do. For example, if the Canadian elections had worked that way, Justin Trudeau would have lost his last two elections. As a prominent counterexample, the French have had difficulties with the power of their presidency from the start. Although our federal government often has deadlocks, this is acceptable because, without a clear national consensus, we’re supposed to be governed by state governments.

She writes:

“Americans have long assumed that the Constitution could save us; a growing chorus now wonders whether we need to be saved from it. The document that’s supposed to be a bulwark against authoritarianism can end up fostering the widespread cynicism that helps authoritarianism grow.”

“Trump owes his political ascent to the Constitution, making him a beneficiary of a document that is essentially antidemocratic and, in this day and age, increasingly dysfunctional.”

“After all, Trump became president in 2016 after losing the popular vote but winning the Electoral College. He appointed three justices to the Supreme Court two of whom were confirmed by senators representing just 44 percent of the population. Those three justices helped overturn Roe v. Wade, a reversal with which most Americans disagreed.”

Actually, “Jen,” most Americans agree with the Roe v Wade decision. Your problem is all you listen to are leftist whiners like yourself. For your information, the Constitution IS the foundation of our freedom and democracy and could never be construed as a threat.

The Constitution commands almost religious reverence, with politicians from all parties praising its brilliance. This 18th-century document underscores the U.S.’s enduring commitment from its inception. It represents what even Barack Obama called:

“An improbable experiment in democracy” grounded on principles of equality, self-government, and personal liberty. It is the key to what makes America “exceptional,” the foundation of our “shining city on a hill,” and the reason the country offers a universal model of what Abraham Lincoln called the “government of the people, by the people, for the people.”

The left has no respect for anything, so is it surprising that they would attack the document that has served as the pillar of our nation? These are the same people who believe that non-citizens should vote in American elections. It is a ridiculous daydream that is ridiculed worldwide.

The Constitution represents stability and traditional moral values. Try as they may, the left will never overturn it, and any serious attempt to do so will unleash the anarchy they crave but not the results they were hoping for.
