Report of explosives found near Trump rally false, police say

The Nassua County Police Department debunked in a statement Wednesday morning initial media reports that explosives were found at a Trump rally.

Former President Donald Trump is expected to host a rally at 7 p.m. ET at the Nassau Coliseum in New York just days after an assassination attempt against him in Florida.

โ€œReports that an explosive device was found at the Nassau Coliseum are FALSE,โ€ NCPD said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The news comes just days after a failed assassination attempt against Trump, the second so far this year, raised more concerns about Trumpโ€™s safety.

Lawmakers have called for Trump to receive the same Secret Service protection afforded to President Joe Biden given the recent incidents.
