Ryan Routh and Why We Can’t Trust Palm Beach County
Ryan Routh will face federal charges after he attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump.
But if Ryan Routh ever faces local or state charges then I don’t trust the Democratic Palm Beach County officials to lay down the law.
On Sunday, Ryan Routh was spotted in a very compromising position at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. Trump was nearby. Routh fled the scene, got on I-95 and drove north. Someone took a photo of his car’s license plate number. No Palm Beach County law enforcement officers saw him or apprehended him.
That task fell to deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Department. Martin County is one county north. As soon as Routh hit the Martin County line, deputies stopped him.

Twenty years ago, I was a reporter for a weekly newspaper that covered several counties in that region of Florida. Martin County was my beat. I know the area and its surrounding region well. And I also know that Routh was able to drive a distance of 20 to 30 miles, probably in heavy traffic. This was before any law enforcement saw him and caught him. That’s shocking, considering the crime he almost committed.
As I said, Palm Beach County is majority Democrat. On the other hand, Martin County is majority Republican. Were Palm Beach County officials less motivated to capture Routh for that reason? That’s a horrible thought, but it did cross my mind.
I made the drive to and from West Palm Beach many times when I lived there, usually to go sightseeing or to fly out of the Palm Beach International Airport. That airport is only three miles away from the Trump International Golf Club.

Rush Limbaugh, when he was alive, lived in West Palm Beach.
When I moved to that part of Florida, it was around the same time that Rush announced he had a problem with prescription drugs. The state attorney there, a Democrat, prosecuted Rush on doctor shopping charges…when, at the time, it was reported he didn’t prosecute other people who were guilty of the same thing.
The state attorney’s mother made headlines when she told people at one of her cocktail parties that her son was prosecuting Rush only for political reasons…to silence and discredit him forever. Fortunately, her son didn’t succeed.
The point is that Democrats in Palm Beach County carried out lawfare against Republicans 20 years before Joe Biden’s Department of Justice started doing it.
When Rush died, the Palm Beach County Courthouse defied an order from Gov. Ron DeSantis and REFUSED to lower its flags to honor the talk show host.
Current Florida State Attorney Dave Aronberg, a Democrat who oversees Palm Beach County, has already said it’s going to be “tough to charge” Routh with “a charge against Trump.”
Those comments seem politically motivated.
Keep a watchful eye on how the authorities in Palm Beach County handle this situation.
They’ve given us no reason to trust that they’ll handle things professionally, fairly or truthfully.
