The Desecration Of Trafalgar Square
Trafalgar Square is one of London’s central gathering spots for tourists as well as protesters. It was named after Admiral Horatio Nelson’s victory on October 21st, 1805, over the French and Spanish fleets. A statue of the one-armed admiral stands atop Nelson’s Column at the center of the square, and statues of other 19th-century military leaders are nearby. The site around Trafalgar Square has been a significant landmark since the 1200s.
In another area of the square is the fourth plinth, a 24-foot-high stone pedestal erected in 1841 for a never-completed equestrian statue. Since 1999, it has been occupied by a series of artworks for about 18 months at a time. The previous installations on the plinth were whimsical, including a giant bronze thumb, a sculpture of a giant swirl of whipped cream topped with a cherry, a fly, a drone, and 2,400 members of the public who each stood atop the plinth for an hour over the course of 100 days.
The new sculpture unveiled on the 4th Plinth of Trafalgar Square features 726 plaster castings of actual transgender and nonbinary prostitutes. Classy, right?
Remember, the 4th Plinth previously displayed statues of Baptist preacher John Chilembwe and British missionary John Chorley, who shared the Gospel with the people of Malawi.
The transgender prostitute monstrosity was created by Mexican artist Teresa Margolles, a man who is pretending to be a woman. Not only is this eyesore visually grotesque, but the display method is based on the practice of Tzompantli, a method used by the Aztecs to display the severed heads of their sacrifice victims.
Organizers of this horror claim it will “naturally age” while on display, with the detail of the faces slowly fading as the plaster is exposed to the elements. I’m betting most people are hoping the entire thing will fade away sooner rather than later.
It’s disappointing to think about how many historical statues have been torn down worldwide because simpleminded snowflakes can’t understand that history, both good and bad needs to be remembered. They demand that anything that offends their delicate sensibilities be removed. However, they cheer when plaster masks of transgender prostitutes are erected in a manner that was used by the Aztecs to display the severed heads of their sacrifice victims. They could care less if anyone is offended by something that has no right to be so prominently displayed.
In his novel “1984” George Orwell wrote this about history:
“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered, and the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped.”
Orwell was right. The left wants to eliminate the truth and rewrite history to suit the present they are trying to create. Even if that present is offensive and outright morally bankrupt.
