Time For The GOP To Fight Fire With Fire Even If It’s Wrong
It’s time for the Republicans to stop letting the Democrats get away with outright corruption by giving them warnings or little love taps on their proverbial wrists. Two adages apply to this latest revelation about the Democrats’ use of high school students to help the Harris-Walz campaign. “It’s time to fight fire with fire,” or maybe more appropriately, “If you can’t beat them, join them.”
Last Wednesday, Brett Jenson of the radio station WBT In Charlotte, North Carolina, posted this on X:
“BREAKING: I reported Wednesday that an NC Democrat operative working for 2024 Victory – an organization for Harris-Walz and with ties to the NC Dem Party – reached out to more than 400 Gaston County high school teachers & workers asking them to do something illegal: have them ask their students if they would like to volunteer for the Democrats during the election.”
“According to officials with schools and government, it is against NC law for public school officials to use public funds to encourage students to endorse or oppose a referendum, election or candidate. Using school email is public funds. It also illegal to use government email do so. Teachers are also forbidden to have political paraphernalia supporting candidates or parties in their classrooms.”
“However, many of the 400 individuals contacted by Reed Breunig forwarded his email to students, and some teachers even posted it on their school’s electronic bulletin board. This caused many parents & Republicans to get upset. Breunig identifies himself as the NC Regional Organizer for Gaston & Cleveland counties for 2024 Victory in the emails.”
“When contacted, Breunig told me getting high school volunteers to help in campaigns is a national program for the Democrats. He also said he wasn’t allowed to speak to me and that I needed to speak to Dory MacMillan, who is a spokesperson for the 2024 Victory NC aspect. She was also Gov. Cooper’s coms person when he refused to take my questions 14 months during COVID.”
“I put in a request for a statement on the Gaston Co Schools situation. Some 48 hours later, MacMillan and her team have yet to respond to the request.”
“Upon hearing about the emails to teachers and many forwarding them, Gaston County Schools took immediate action to prevent further damage.”
“Gaston County Schools also contacted Cleveland County Schools to make sure it was aware of the emails being sent.”
“Gaston County Schools sent me this email on the steps taken to rectify this situation as best it could:”
“Of the 400 e-mail users who received the message, some did not open it, some deleted it, and some opened it and forwarded it. We also had staff members post and distribute the information they received in an e-mail on the Canvas platform (there is a place on the platform where information about opportunities for students, scholarships, community activities, leadership programs, etc. is routinely distributed). It is believed the information was posted to share about the volunteer opportunity for students; however, it is understandable why school platforms should not be used to distribute such information given the political nature of the content.“
“The message from Mr. Breunig can be considered spam or junk mail. While filters do a good job of blocking offensive, pornographic, and other inappropriate messages, it would not necessarily block spam messages related to politics.”
“Because of the viral nature of the message, it was nearly impossible for TSS personnel to retrieve it.”
“Since this happened, the following steps have been taken:”
“Human Resources created a webinar video to remind employees of Board of Education policies that outline political activity in schools. The video was sent to school and district administrators to share with their staff and emphasize at their next staff meeting; it also is being uploaded in the professional development training system – every employee will be required to watch the video as part of the required professional development training and also review (in the training system) a written copy of the Board policies related to political activity in schools.”
“We were able to remove the known content that was posted on the Canvas platform.”
“The superintendent plans to have a discussion with senior staff about political activity in schools and also have the topic on the agenda for the next principals meeting.”

The Democratic party is openly and knowingly breaking the law. Still, they never hesitate to do it. If you read the email sent out by Reid Breunig, the Regional Organizer for Harris, they twist their explanation and make it sound like an opportunity for the students. It’s this type of gaslighting that the Democrats have gotten away with for years.
Breunig even admitted that this wasn’t only being done in North Carolina but was a national program for Democrats.
“When contacted, Breunig told me getting high school volunteers to help in campaigns is a national program for the Democrats.
So, here’s the question: why aren’t Republicans doing the same thing? They are walking around with their hands in their pockets, bitching and moaning about what the Democrats are doing instead of taking aggressive action.
Let’s face it: the Democrats aren’t going to be punished for this anywhere in the country. They can’t lose and will probably influence thousands or tens of thousands by doing this. They are constantly pushing the envelope; while the GOP sputters and stutters, the Democrats smile and keep doing whatever they want.
It’s way past time for the Republicans to get into the game. They have to stop being outmaneuvered by the left, and they need to start thinking outside of the box.
It has long been said that politics is a dirty game. It’s time for Republicans to stop looking like Mr. Clean and to get some dirt under their fingernails.
