The Wheels Fall Off Of The Boeing DEI Department

I have written four columns this year on the disaster Boeing and the FAA have become. Many attributed both the company’s and the FAA’s downfall to very aggressive DEI programs that prioritized race and gender over merit.

In Boeing’s case, not only were the manufacturing problems mounting, but two whistleblowers died under questionable circumstances, and the company is currently in the middle of a seven-week machinist strike that involves around 33,000 employees.

That said it took pressure from anti-DEI influencer Robby Starbuck to act as the final nail in Boeing’s DEI coffin. Starbuck is not new to this fight. He has been criticizing so-called wokeness for years. Until about a decade ago, he worked as a music video director, collaborating with artists like Eve and Snoop Dogg. However, his increasingly vocal conservative opinions negatively impacted his career in Hollywood. So, In 2019, he decided to make a change, moving his wife and kids to Tennessee.

This year, he produced a documentary titled “The War on Children,” which opposes gender-affirming care. The film has gained support within right-wing circles and has been endorsed by Elon Musk. Starbuck has an eager audience of over a million followers across platforms like X, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook, who enthusiastically consume his critiques of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

Last night, he announced some exciting news just in time for the holiday travel season, as Boeing officially dismantled its DEI department and let go of the person who had been leading that controversial division.

Starbuck posted this on X about Boeing and threw in a little sales pitch at the end:

Big news:

“Weeks ago I notified @Boeing’s new CEO and the Chairman of Boeing’s board that I was planning to expose their woke policies. Today, they’re making a BIG preemptive change.

Bloomberg reports that Boeing is DISMANTLING their DEI department and the Boeing VP in charge of that department had her last day today.

Our campaigns are so effective that we’re getting some of the biggest corporations on earth to change their policies without me even posting a video first, just from the fear they have of being the next company we expose. The landscape of corporate America is quickly shifting to sanity and neutrality. We are the trend now, not the anomaly.

We’re winning, and one by one, we WILL bring sanity back to corporate America.

So far, you’ve helped us change corporate policy at Tractor Supply, John Deere, Harley Davidson, Polaris, Indian Motorcycle, Lowe’s, Ford, Coor, Stanley Black & Decker, Caterpillar, Toyota, and now Boeing! We’re a force to be reckoned with, and we won’t stop until wokeness is extinct.

DEI is nothing more than a new name for quotas. It replaces competence with unnecessary diversity, which goes against every measure of keeping public safety as the top priority. Fortunately, Kelly Ortberg realized the problem and will refocus his company on making great planes again. This represents a fundamental change in the company’s thinking. In 2022, Boeing’s corporate filings with the SEC revealed that the annual bonus plan to reward CEOs and executives for increasing shareholder profit and prioritizing safety was changed to reward them if they hit DEI targets. The disease of DEI was also present at Delta, where a memo to employees instructed them to write black and brown in capitals and White in lowercase.

The FAA is enabling overt racism, and individual airlines are complicit. This isn’t about diversity; it’s about division, and the American public is at risk.

As part of the FAA’s excursion into DEI madness, they are actively recruiting people who have “severe intellectual” disabilities, psychiatric problems, and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency’s website.

“Targeted disabilities are those disabilities that the Federal government, as a matter of policy, has identified for special emphasis in recruitment and hiring,” the FAA’s website states. “They include hearing, vision, missing extremities, partial paralysis, complete paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability, and dwarfism.”

The website goes on to say that people with “severe” mental and physical disabilities are the most under-represented segment of the federal workforce. Yes, and there is a reason for that. It isn’t cruel to say that some disabilities greatly inhibit some people from performing certain duties. That is just reality, and honesty. Something the left struggles with.

The FAA says:

“Because diversity is so critical, FAA actively supports and engages in a variety of associations, programs, coalitions, and initiatives to support and accommodate employees from diverse communities and backgrounds. Our people are our strength, and we take great care in investing in and valuing them as such.”

Fox News asked an FAA spokesperson what roles people with disabilities would play and of course, the answer was vague. The agency thoroughly seeks and vets qualified candidates “from as many sources as possible” for a range of positions.”

“The FAA employs tens of thousands of people for a wide range of positions, from administrative roles to oversight and execution of critical safety functions. Like many large employers, the agency proactively seeks qualified candidates from as many sources as possible, all of whom must meet rigorous qualifications that of course will vary by position.”

And if you believe that, I have some waterfront property in Wyoming that you may be interested in.

Still, Boeing’s decision is excellent news. Kudos to Robby Starbuck for his diligence in pursuing and ultimately removing this unnecessary requirement. Keep moving forward, and God’s speed in your future efforts to eliminate wokeness.
