Two Devils Went Down To Georgia

With all of its questionable election tactics, Georgia has been viewed in unflatteringly political terms since the 2020 election. Now, one liberal DA’s hack on impartiality has robbed a murdered girl’s family of true justice.

Laken Riley was an innocent nursing student who went out for a run and, unfortunately, crossed paths with a psychopathic illegal alien who murdered her. Jose Ibarra should never have been in this country, but the Biden-Harris administration’s disregard for American citizens cost her and many others their lives.

There is no doubt that this horrific crime deserves the death penalty. Prosecutor Sheila Ross stated during her opening remarks, “Wearing a black hat, a hoodie-style jacket, and black disposable kitchen gloves, Ibarra went hunting for women on the University of Georgia’s campus. When Laken Riley refused to be his rape victim, he bashed her skull in with a rock repeatedly.”

The prosecution detailed Riley’s final moments as she struggled for her life, accumulating vital DNA evidence beneath her fingernails, which they asserted identified Ibarra as her attacker and murderer.

According to the indictment, the illegal from Venezuela is also charged under Georgia’s “peeping Tom” law. He went to a UGA apartment building and watched another student through a window on the same day Riley was killed.

The morning of her final jog, prosecutors said Riley wore a smartwatch she was given for Christmas. According to Ross:

“This watch captured a lot of important data; Investigators could determine based on the watch’s data analyzed by the FBI’s Cellular Analysis Survey Team that around 9:10 a.m., something happened “to make Riley stop dead in her tracks.”

Around that time, Riley initiated her phone’s SOS function and called 911.

“She’s on this trail with this defendant for about four minutes, and then you see four minutes later, her Garmin smartwatch moves 65 feet into the woods,” Ross told Superior Court Judge H. Patrick Haggard, who determined the monster’s fate.

According to the watch’s data, the prosecutor described Riley’s encounter with her attacker as “long” and fierce. Once her heart stops at 9:28 a.m., there’s no more movement from her smartwatch.”

This vile piece of garbage should have received the death penalty; however, the Athens-Clarke District Attorney Deborah Gonzales, a radical leftist, took it off the table. She did this despite appointing a special prosecutor to take over the prosecution of Ibarra at the end of February amid criticism over her prosecutorial record of the soft-on-crime reforms she implemented after assuming office in January 2021.

Gonzalez announced this spring the prosecution would not seek the death penalty against Ibarra, stating:

“Our utmost duty is to ensure that justice is served and that the victim’s family is an integral part of the deliberation process.”

According to WRDW, at that time, she declared that critics would seek to “exploit this case for political gain,” but legal decisions must “always transcend political considerations.”

That sounds good, but by taking the death penalty out of consideration, she was absolutely playing politics. Listen to her left-leaning reasoning. Gonzalez claimed her office would:

“No longer seek the death penalty,” and when considering charging defendants, she would “take into account collateral consequences to undocumented defendants.”

That sounds extremely political to me. Once again, here is a Democrat pandering to illegals at the expense of an innocent 22-year-old nursing student. Gonzalez is placing a higher priority on Ibarra’s life than on Riley’s. He brutally took hers, but Gonzalez doesn’t have the guts to sentence him to the sentence he deserves because she wants to “take into account collateral consequences to undocumented defendants.”

Georgia state Rep. Houston Gaines (R) was outraged by the decision. He posted:

“If there was ever a case where the death penalty was appropriate, this is it.”

Sen. Colton Moore (R) called on the State attorney general to intervene.

“I am officially calling on Attorney General Chris Carr to file an emergency motion to intervene and demand the death penalty for the murderer of Laken Riley.”

Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA.) put it this way:

“District Attorney Deborah Gonzalez let her radical political agenda stand in the way of justice. By refusing to seek the death penalty, she denied Laken’s family, friends, and community the full measure of justice they deserve.”

“Jose Ibarra deserves the death penalty. Just as Laken’s mother Allyson asked the judge, Laken’s evil murderer deserves exactly what he gave to Laken.”

The left has a misplaced sense of justice. They always fall on the wrong side of these issues, and what’s so infuriating is that they clearly don’t care. They will even rub their sick agenda into the grieving faces of a mourning family.

Laken’s killer deserves death. Life is precious. Everyone alive was chosen to inhabit this world in this time and space. He snuffed her life out, and he should not be able to breathe air and experience life after committing such an egregious act.
