Why Most on the Left Won’t Stand Up to Trump’s Massive Deportation Plan Even in Democratic States

One of the big lies about the election in 2024 was that the vote was primarily or exclusively about the economy. While obviously the incompetence of the Biden administration and high prices were a motivating factor, less than 40 percent of voters cited the economy in exit polls. Many voters were equally concerned with the border, defending democracy, and other social issues such as abortion. A lot of voters citing the importance of defending Democracy voted against Harris as well.

The reality is that Obama was reelected in 2012 despite a weak economy because despite being a failed President the former Senator of Illinois was likable to many Americans. Obama was also a talented politician. The Democratic party at that time was also seen as being more in line with the interests of working class voters as well. The main reason the Democrats lost the 2024 election as even Bernie Sanders conceded, is that the part has become out of touch with the working class.

The Democratic party focuses on issues such as climate control, the LGBTQ agenda, and supporting governments such as Ukraine. Most middle and working-class voters do not care about any of those topics that the left has prioritized for most of the last decade. The most powerful ad that President-elect Trump ran was not on the economy, it was about the out-of-place priorities of Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party.

While Republicans and conservatives obviously think it’s very important to treat everyone with respect and civility regardless of their race, gender, or sexual orientation, this ad was powerful because the message was the Democrats are not prioritizing the middle class of the country at a time when most people in America are facing tough economic times. The ad was a strong reminder of how completely out of touch Harris and the modern Democratic party has become with the people in this country.

This is why the Democrats can’t afford during these difficult economic times to be siding with illegal immigrants when many U.S. citizens are hurting financially. If the governors and mayors of Democratic cities and states try to fight Trump’s massive planned national deportation effort, the left will just reinforce the devastating and negative narrative that the modern Democratic party is one of elites that does not care about middle and low-income Americans. The Left cannot afford to be siding with illegal immigrants over American citizens during tough times like these, the Democrats will lose that political battle, and most of them know that.

While some Democratic leaders issued statements that they are prepared to protect rights Trump might attack, even Gavin Newsom was afraid to state that he would resist Trump’s deportation plan. The border and the issue of illegal immigration are losing topics for the Democrats, and even the most delusional political figures on the left such as AOC cannot dispute this fact after the election results. Even many Democrats in cities such as Chicago and New York, such as Mayor Adams, have complained about these individuals’ cities resources being diverted to cover the massive expenses of providing for millions of illegal immigrants.

One of the biggest lies that the left likes to say about President-elect Trump is that he is anti-immigrant. Trump has repeatedly stated that he wants to increase the number of people coming to his country, but that the process should be legal. Most of the leaders on the left did not care about the immigrants coming to the US at all, these individuals just wanted to put these people into communities in swing states such as Springfield, Ohio, to try to help them politically. While obviously all people should be treated humanely, the US needs to secure the border and make sure that we know who is coming into our country.
