Canadian Military Questioned On “Extremism”
Part of the left’s problem is that it continues to mislabel everything, and chase imagined grievances. On November 26, the Department of National Defense sent a probe to Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members regarding “Hateful Conduct and Right-Wing Extremism in the Canadian Armed Forces.” The inquiry was developed by the Network for Research on Hateful Conduct and Right-Wing Extremism at Ontario Tech University.
I don’t know about you, but I’ll sleep better tonight knowing that Ontario Tech University has a Network for Research on Hateful Conduct and Right-Wing Extremism. Here is their reasoning for taking the survey.
“The collected information will provide researchers with the means to understand and provide recommendations on how to detect and combat hateful conduct and radicalization among CAF members. Study results could also help develop recommendations on targeted interventions, systemic reform, and policy.”
Screenshots obtained by True North News indicate that the survey’s definition of “extremism” appears to include both patriotism and questioning mainstream narratives. One section questioned soldiers if they had purchased “extremism merchandise,” which includes items like a “Make Canada Great Again” hat. It also inquired whether they had “liked” a post from an extremist group on social media or provided strategic advice or training to an extremist group in the past two to five years.
The questionnaire inquired if soldiers had ever “searched for and watched extremist music and or videos,” “displayed a tattoo or clothing with extremist symbols,” or verbally or physically assaulted a member of a racial or religious minority.
The survey also got very specific and even asked to what extent they agreed with certain statements. Statements such as “Jews have too much control over certain institutions,” “Canada appears to be moving towards fascism,” and “non-white immigration trends are a threat to white people.”
The survey was approved by both the Department of National Defense and the CAF Social Science Research Review Board; however, the former has since distanced itself from the investigation.
“The DND and CAF is not funding this research, nor has it contracted this research. This study is being conducted by independent researchers from Ontario Tech University’s Network for Research on Hateful Conduct and Right-Wing Extremism in the Canadian Armed Forces.”
They may not have contracted the research, but they did review it and approve it.
Since Justin Trudeau took office, the Canadian military has spiraled downward into wokeism. This type of survey promotes a liberal view by suggesting that the purchase of a hat, for instance, is enough reason to label someone as an extremist.
In April, Canada’s first transgender military chaplain was suspended for alleged sexual harassment after reportedly attempting to grope a male soldier at the Royal Military College while under the influence of alcohol.
LifeSiteNews has reported that the military used Canadian taxpayers’ dollars to fund pro-diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, including polls, guest speakers, presentations, workshops, and LGBT flags. The workshops covered topics such as “the gendered nature of security,” while one presentation focused on “integrating gender and diversity perspectives.”
In 2021, the Defense Department revealed that it has two separate committees and eight programs that worked to appoint homosexual advisors to “innovate” religious instruction and gender-neutral uniforms.
In June of last year, the Canadian military was criticized for “raising the pride flag” in honor of the so-called “2SLGBTQI+ communities. The same month, Canadian troops in Latvia were compelled to purchase their own helmets and food due to the Trudeau government’s failure to provide adequate supplies. Weeks later, Trudeau addressed the same troops about climate change and alleged disinformation.
Because of this constant push to incorporate an LGBTQ agenda and other woke tendencies into the military, recruitment is at an all-time low. The military is supposed to be a tough defense force and allowing men to pretend to be women and vice versa is not reality. These woke fantasies lower morale and do nothing to increase the strength of Canada’s fighting force.
We can all spot extremism when we see it. The left apparently cannot. If they could they would see that their agenda is extremism at its worst. They are destroying their military to appease a few. So instead of calling someone out over a hat or their choice of music, they would be better served to drop the nonsense and focus on military strategy and training.
Oh, and supplying them with proper equipment would also be nice, or is that too extreme?
