Elon Musk gave a speech to an enthusiastic crowd on inauguration night. While the media chose to focus on a gesture of love for the audience, the real gold came in a declaration where he made his intentions very clear.
“I’m going to work my ass off for you guys.”
There was a sense of sincerity in his words, and they conveyed to the audience an undeniable assuredness that Elon was going to approach exposing malfeasance in the federal government with the same energy he used to build Paypal, Tesla, Starlink, SpaceX, X and the Boring Company.
True to form, shortly after President Trump assumed office, it was reported Musk was sleeping at DOGE headquarters in Washington DC in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which is within walking distance to the White House. Apparently, key members of his staff have joined him.
The results of his efforts have been swift and stunning.
In just under three weeks, Musk has demolished the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) by exposing a long list of programs where taxpayer money was spent on frivolous endeavors and programs that do not align with American interests, including:
* $1.5 million slated to “advance diversity, equity and inclusion in Serbia’s workplaces and business communities.
* $70,000 for a “DEI musical” in Ireland.
* $47,000 for a “transgender opera” in Colombia.
* $32,000 for a “transgender comic book” in Peru
* $2 million for sex changes and “LGBT activism” in Guatemala.
* $6 million to fund tourism in Egypt.
* $20 million on “Ahlan Simsim” — a new Sesame Street show in Iraq.
* Over $4.5 million to “combat disinformation” in Kazakhstan.
* Up to $10 million worth of USAID-funded meals went to al Qaeda-linked terrorist group the Nusra Front.
There are a lot of other eyebrow raising expenditures on the list, but you get the idea.
In fact, through his evaluation of USAID, Musk concluded that only 10% of aid dollars are actually spent in the countries they are supposed to help.
Musk’s Tech Prowess Terrifies the Left
So, what did Musk do to USAID? He shut it down. This is the page that comes up when you type the USAID website into a browser.
I mean, seriously, how awesome is this?
Contract workers were unable to access systems on Saturday, and by Sunday, they were effectively locked out completely. Hundreds of layoffs followed shortly thereafter.
But Elon was just getting started.
Musk and his team gained access to data in the Treasury Department, including Social Security and Medicare payment systems. As he posted on X, Elon believes the Medicare Agency Payment system is where the “big money fraud” is happening.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) is cooperating and collaborating with Musk to provide access to CMS systems and technology. In a statement, a CMS Spokesperson said:
“We are taking a thoughtful approach to see where there may be opportunities for more effective and efficient use of resources in line with meeting the goals of President Trump.”
If I was a beneficiary of Medicare fraud, you know, the kind where the doctor bills the system for services either not rendered, overbilled or needlessly rendered, I would be very concerned.
Leftists Meltdown
Naturally, the left is fake outraged.
They immediately jumped to the defense of USAID, demonstrating and loudly affirming their support for government corruption. Despite USAID insiders like Catharine O’Neill Gillihan, who said, “There was no traceability, no accountability, and it was really hard for us to do our jobs,” Democrats roared with anger.
“We don’t have a fourth branch of government called Elon Musk. And that’s going to become real clear,” said Representative Jamie Raskin (Democrat-Maryland).
“The people get to decide how their taxpayer money is spent. Elon Musk does not get to decide,” said Senator Chris Murphy (Democrat-Connecticut).
But this was nothing compared to the collective aneurysm leftists experienced when Musk was granted access to the Treasury payment system by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Later, Musk tweeted this gem:
“The @DOGE team discovered, among other things, that payment approval officers at Treasury were instructed always to approve payments, even to known fraudulent or terrorist groups.”
Think about that for a moment. Treasury never disapproved a payment? How many payments were disbursed last year alone? Millions? Billions? And they never denied a single one? The kicker is they’re knowingly disbursing money to fraudsters and terrorist groups.
But guess what? Leftists don’t care.
In fact, they were quick to lash out, this time with even more ferocity. Two unions and an advocacy group filed a lawsuit to prevent DOGE from accessing Treasury data. The Alliance for Retired Americans, the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) are seeking a restraining order. The initial lawsuit was settled pending a decision on the injunction. It allows two DOGE employees “read only” access to the data.
That’s still way too dangerous for the Deep State.
Congressman Sean Casten (D-IL) is leading 154 House Democrats in a protest that included a letter to Bessent expressing their indignation over Musk and his allies gaining access to the payment systems. On Thursday, they introduced a bill that would prohibit DOGE from doing its work.
“This system is responsible for delivering trillions in Social Security and Medicare benefits, tax refunds, and payments to government contractors,” the lawmakers wrote. “This action follows earlier reports that you removed an essential nonpartisan career Treasury official, who has played a critical role in preventing the United States from defaulting on its debt, due to his opposition to Mr. Musk’s actions. These recent developments raise serious questions about your ability to fulfill the essential functions of your role as Treasury Secretary and to protect the economic strength and security of the United States.”
Protests have popped up around the country in the usual places.
“I’m appalled by democracy’s changes in the last, well, specifically two weeks — but it started a long time ago,” said Margaret Wilmeth, a protester at the Statehouse in Columbus, Ohio. “So I’m just trying to put a presence into resistance.”
Leftists for Fraud, Waste and Abuse
So, this is what we are facing. Woke leftists taking bizarro world logic to a new level. Apparently, Democrats and leftists in general now publicly support fraud, waste and abuse in government. As always, they’ll hide behind some fake sanctimony, and in this instance, claim they are concerned about “privacy.” Yeah, like Elon Musk, for whom money has become meaningless, has some sinister plan to sell their Medicare and Social Security data for profit.
Give me a break.
If this is the hill woke leftists want to die on, so be it.
Somehow, someway, Musk is going to get to the bottom of the fetid rotten underbelly of the Deep State. When that happens, batten down the hatches because all hell is going to break loose.
