The America First Standard #5: The Forever Wars Drag on
We are now over a month into the 2nd Trump administration. So, now it’s time to start analyzing whether the current presidential administration is achieving the “America First” promises that were made during the 2024 campaign.
One of the key planks of Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign was his promise to the end the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. For instance, President Donald Trump shared that he “wanted the [Russia-Ukraine] war to stop” during a presidential debate with Kamala Harris during September 2024.
The promise to end the “forever wars” has remained a key part of the America First” agenda since Donald Trump first announced his initial presidential campaign in July 2015.
Fast forward to today, and the Forever War don’t have any end in sight under the 2nd Trump administration.
According to several major media outlets, the corrupt president of the Ukrainian regime Volodymyr Zelenskyy will likely sign a mineral rights deal with the United States in the coming days. According to Newsweek, the United States will split of half of the Ukraine’s revenues from future gas and mineral projects under this proposed plan.
However, there is a major issue with this plan. A significant portion of Ukraine’s mineral resources resides in areas that are currently occupied by the Russian military. Will the US need to get militarily involved to protect these mineral rights? While the details of this plan aren’t public yet, the United States is opening itself to more unnecessary risk by adding more economic ties to a country directly engaged in a war with Russia.
In my opinion, this proposed plan will further mire the United States into the Russia-Ukraine conflict through our economic partnership with the Ukraine. Last year, the Trump campaign promised to quickly end the Russia-Ukraine conflict on many occasions. But it’s now the 2nd month of the 2nd month Trump admin, and we’re not seeing much progress in ending in America’s involvement in the the Ukraine.
It’s high time for the United States to end it’s involvement in the Ukraine, It’s time to put the interests of the American people first by ending this dangerous front in America’s “forever wars”.
