The Quiet, Important Story About to Blow-Up In The Faces Of The Failing Legacy Press
The national media has a short attention span. One of the reasons why politicians frequently drop negative news stories on Fridays is that usually by the time Monday comes around there are other events that take up the attention of the press. The media also likes to highlight one story at a time. With Musk and DOGE in the headlines right now, Ukraine and the upcoming peace negotiation between the US and Russia haven’t gotten a lot of attention in the media of recent. One big story usually bumps the coverage of others down very quickly in the new cycle today.
A story that has gotten almost no coverage recently is the lawsuit Trump filed against CBS over the obvious and deceitful editing of Kamala Harris’s interview with Bill Whitaker. What the network did was disgusting and unethical, CBS replaced an entire incompetent answer by Harris to make her sound intelligent and Presidential. The press for the most part stopped covering this story after Trump won in November, and even the recent refusal by a Federal Court to dismiss this case didn’t get a lot of attention on news outlets other than Fox. The President’s lawsuit against CBS is a big deal, and there are already reports that the network’s leading shareholder, Shari Redstone, wants to settle. Trump took a low settlement offer from ABC, settling with the network for 15 million, when the President likely could have gotten a much bigger number since ABC was very afraid of discovery since network executives had reportedly told Stephanopolous not to incorrectly refer to Trump as a rapist many times, and the former ABC anchor ignored these warnings.
Trump is not going to settle with CBS for a lower number, there are already credible reports the President is likely to ask for over a hundred million from the disgraced left-wing network. The legacy press can try to spin one settlement with Trump as an outlier, but if ABC and CBS both settle with the President, and CBS has to make a massive payout, this will likely be the beginning of the end for what is left of the already failing old liberal media. A significant settlement by CBS will also put left-wing networks on notice about trying to lie and create fake stories about Trump the way these networks did with the Russian hoax in the President’s first term. While left-wing radicals are trying to incorrectly suggest these settlements by the media with Trump are a threat to free speech, that is a patently absurd take. These settlements show that when networks with public broadcasting licenses putting out knowingly false propoganda to try to manipulate the public, there is a price to pay. The lawsuit has the potential, in essence, to force the supposed news media to actually report on events more objectively rather than trying to push a radical far left agenda.
The corrupt legacy media’s lies are what won the Democrats the House in 2018, with enough people believing the Russian hoax was a legitimate concern, and the failing liberal press also had a huge impact in manipulating the coverage of Covid as well. CBS is likely to reach a huge settlement with Trump less than a year after ABC was forced to pay out millions over the lies the network told. When Trump attacks the corrupt liberal press, the left won’t have any standing to argue with him, if CBS reaches a large settlement with the President. A big payout by CBS would also function as an effective deterrent against these networks from putting some of the more disgusting propaganda that these media outlets disseminated to attack Trump. Indeed, while the President settled quickly for what likely was a low number with ABC, CBS won’t likely be as lucky, and another large settlement by the corrupt legacy press with Trump in a short period of time will come close to destroying the little credibility the liberal media has left.
