A Great Day For A “Bad Idea”
Last Month, I wrote a column titled “Trump’s Gold-Green Card, Don’t Leave Home Without It.” In that column, I wrote that Trump proposed a new type of green card: a gold card that will be sold to immigrants for $5 million. I explained that at first, the idea may sound strange, but it isn’t. Many countries worldwide offer citizenship-by-investment programs, including several in Europe, such as Portugal, which provides “golden visas” or permanent residency for foreigners who invest €500,000 ($524,000) in a qualifying fund.
The Gold Card program is set to replace the EB-5 program. Recipients of the Gold Card will go through a vetting process. Instead of depending on green card lotteries, the program aims to reduce the deficit by allowing individuals to invest their way into the country. This approach attracts capital, job creators, and high-level talent. Companies seeking to invest in top-tier global talent will be encouraged to participate in this initiative.
Naturally, the idea had critics. The same people who watched Biden stumble around and do his very best to destroy the culture of our country hate every idea that a man who loves it wants to try.
During a Thursday appearance on the policy-focused podcast “All-In,” Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated that Trump’s new initiative to attract wealthy individuals from around the world to obtain U.S. residency status is already yielding significant results, bringing in $5 billion in a single day.
“The most productive people in the world are going to start spending time here,” They’re going to have a family office. They’re going to hire some people.”
On the podcast, Lutnick estimated that there are 37 million individuals worldwide who could afford a gold card, and “The president thinks we can sell a million.”
Former New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, a Republican who foolishly supported Nikki Haley during the GOP primary, opposes the plan.
“It’s a bad idea,” he stated on the NewsNation program “Elizabeth Vargas Reports.” “Any time you say, ‘if you have money, you go to the front of the line, or you receive preferential treatment….”
“Look, I get it if you’re getting a comfortable seat on an airline. But we’re talking about U.S. citizenship, the most desired thing on the planet. And just letting the rich kind of cut the line. “No, don’t buy it; I don’t like it.”
Correction: Sununu doesn’t like Trump. He more than understands what this program is about. He has lived with wealth his entire life. Lest anyone forget, his father is John Sununu, who served as governor of New Hampshire and also as chief of staff to President George H.W. Bush. So, Sununu, saying he doesn’t like it reeks of hypocrisy.
Let’s face it: Trump could have an epiphany one night and develop a cure for every type of cancer, and the Democrats and RINOs would blame him for a population explosion. The idea is an inventive way to make some progress against the huge national debt, which now stands at a staggering $36 trillion.
Anyone who criticizes any plan of Trump’s needs to take stock of the fact that the Democrats never even had one. Unless you consider welcoming an invasion with open arms a plan. The puppets pulling Biden’s strings unfairly allowed illegals to crush American communities and place unfair burdens on American schools, hospitals, and law enforcement.
Both Trump and Lutnick have stated that potential recipients will undergo thorough vetting. In a White House interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, Trump noted that if any recipients are found to have problematic backgrounds, their funds can be returned, and they can be promptly deported.
This arrangement essentially functions as a business deal, dependent on the satisfaction of both parties involved. Trump is, above all, a successful businessman. He has built an extraordinary and unprecedented political career on the promise that he can bring that same level of success to the government.
Trump took over a nation that is spiritually, mentally, emotionally, psychologically, financially and materially drained. The Democrats and leftists who like to sit up in the cheap seats and take potshots at Trump are nothing more than self-righteous narcissists.
These are the same people who saw egg, grocery, gas, and everything else rise in price under the Biden cabal for four years and yet still want to try and blame Trump, who has only been in office for four months.
There is a saying that says, “Right place, Wrong time.” Thankfully for America, Trump doesn’t see things that way. He sees himself as being in the right place at a difficult time where he can make things better.
The Democrats have no intention of improving anything. Even though it would be the best thing for the country, they hate Trump much more than they love America. They prove that fact every day with their actions.
