The America First Standard #7: Did Mike Waltz compromise US National Security in a Groupchat?
Yesterday, a huge news story broke that shocked myself and countless Americans across the country.
The far-left editor of The Atlantic magazine—Jeffrey Goldberg—published a viral story about the United States military’s recent strikes against the Houthi rebels in Yemen.
Here is how Goldberg starts his article:
“The world found out shortly before 2 p.m. eastern time on March 15 that the United States was bombing Houthi targets across Yemen.
I, however, knew two hours before the first bombs exploded that the attack might be coming. The reason I knew this is thatย Pete Hegseth, the secretary of defense, had texted me the war plan at 11:44 a.m. The plan included precise information about weapons packages, targets, and timing.“
Here’s a quick rundown of the situation. A few weeks ago, several senior members of the Trump administration were talking in a private Signal groupchat about American foreign policy. This chat included Defense Secretary Pete Hesgeth, Vice President JD Vance, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and others.
According to Goldberg’s article and screenshots of the Signal groupchat, Mike Waltz accidentally added Jeffrey Goldberg to this groupchat. In this groupchat, Defense Secretary Pete Hesgeth admitted that the United States military was planning to bomb the Houthi rebels—less than a day before the missile strikes took place.
This national security blunder is in unparalleled territory. Never before has a National Security Advisor directly leaked top-secret military planning to a journalist in such a preposterous manner.
According to Politico, the political future of National Security Advisor Mike Waltz is highly uncertain after this groupchat leak. Some political insiders expect Waltz to resign for blatantly compromising national security.
Regardless of the outcome of this saga, this story is an absolute embarrassment to the 2nd Trump administration and undermines the credibility of the executive branch.
The warmongering, neo-conservative members of the 2nd Trump administration–such as Mike Waltz and Pete Hesgeth–have already undermined our country by pulling our country into a potential war with Iran or the Houthi rebels. It’s even more embarrassing that both Waltz and Hesgeth leaked our military’s plans to an “America Last” journalist.
Mike Waltz and Pete Hesgeth are both “America Last” members of America Foreign policy establishment. and the best thing that they can do for our country is to resign from their respective positions.
