Why Zelenskyy Sabotaged the Meeting With Trump

Sometimes conflict is inevitable. While countries and individuals can want to get along, often the views and goals of 2 parties are so different that eventually, tension will boil to the surface. When Trump came down the escalator in 2015 and announced he was running for President, he focused on the border in his initial speech, but he also made sure to speak at length about the need to end the constant Wars that the corrupt establishment has continued to support.

Trump had also made clear his feelings about Zelenskyy and the War between Russia and Ukraine prior to becoming President again in 2024 on many occasions. He repeatedly said the US was sending far too much money to the corrupt slavic country, and also talked about the need for Europe to equalize as well. There was inevitably going to be a conflict between the Ukrainian leader and the newly elected President, the question was just when and how.

The backdrop to the meeting recent meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy is key to understanding what actually happened in what was supposed to be just a formal signing of an important economic agreement between the US and Ukraine. Zelenskyy has made clear he wants Ukraine in NATO, or security guarantees from the US and Europe, if he cannot obtain membership in this organization. Trump has made clear that he does not support such security guarantees for several main reasons. First, these promises would risk a world war since Russia and Ukraine have been in constant conflict since 2014 and Putin views troops and missiles on his border as a red line his country won’t accept. Second, while the US, including Trump, has supported sending massive amounts of aid to Ukraine, Americans should not and are not willing to die for this country. The President’s mineral agreement proposal to Zelensky is a form of more acceptable security guarantee anyways, since this deal would provide a foundation for continued military and economic cooperation between Ukraine and the United States. As US companies played a bigger role in Ukraine and our country had some noncombat troops in the country to protect these economic interests, this would function as a significant form of protection for Zelenskyy and Ukraine.

Unfortunately, Zelesnkyy has been getting anything and everything he’s wanted from the West for some time, since Biden was senile and incompetent, and the Ukranian leader was unwilling to compromise for anything less than a clear and explicit security guarantee for his country. That’s why despite the usual biased coverage from the failing legacy media, the evidence clearly shows Zelenskyy insisted on coming to Washington, which wasn’t necessary, with the intent to sabotage the mineral agreement the parties were ready to sign. The Ukrainian leader didn’t even need to come to the White House, but, as Rubio disclosed, Zelenskyy insisted on making the trip. The Ukrainian President has also resisted calls for a ceasefire, undoubtedly in part to avoid having to hold elections he cannot win.

In the meeting between Trump and the Ukranian President, Zelenskyy, with the cameras on, started showing pictures to to Trump of alleged Russian atrocities in the middle of the meeting. The Ukrainian President then picked an unprovoked argument with Vice President Vance, and Trump intervened on Vance’s behalf. After the disagreement, the EU immediately and suspiciously called a meeting to suggest that a peace deal should include security guarantees, with British Prime Minister Starmer stating the England was willing to put troops on the ground in Ukraine, and that Europe would step up the continents’ contributions to the Slavic country as well.

Zelenskyy was clearly told by EU leaders that Europe would get him a better deal than what Trump was offering, and the evidence suggests that he flew to Washington to sabotage the economic agreement his team had already come to terms on with the President. While the corrupt and failing legacy media tried as usual to depict Trump as aligning with Putin, the reality was, of course, the opposite. The mineral agreement provides the foundation for continued economic coooperation and a long-term relationship between Ukraine and the US that would include military aid as well. This relationship would effectively function as a type of a deterrent, or security guarantee. Trump has never been well-liked in Europe, and EU leaders are now clearly trying to undermine and go behind his back with Zelenskyy. England’s absurd proposal also risks a much wider and more serious conflict. Indeed, while Ukraine and the EU are still set on continuing and escalating the current conflict, the President remains determined to bring the kind of peace he has both talked about and delivered on for nearly a decade.
