The Resignation of CBS News President Wendy McMahon is another Important Sign that Media Reform is Coming
There is no issue the left lies and gaslights about more than the freedom of the press. The same individuals who refused to cover the disgusting censorship supported by the Biden administration during and even after Covid of what at the time was known as Twitter, Facebook, and even Amazon, where certain books were asked by the federal government to be pulled, is one of the most disgusting chapters in American history. After Trump won in 2016 the failing and pathetic legacy media told nothing but lies about the President and his administration for years, including putting out fake stories about nonexistent connections to Russia and lies about statements the 47th President never even made about fall veterans. The liberal press stopped even pretending to be remotely objective after Trump announced his run for the Presidency in 2015, and the American people have predictably lost confidence in this institution since then.
Trump used both ABC and CBS for the blatant lies and misinformation both networks put out about him and his campaign, as well as the obvious efforts of these supposed news outlets to help Harris’s campaign. CBS edited Harris’s responses to questions during a 60 minutes interview to make her incoherent rambling make sense, and disgraced former news commentator George Stephanapolous repeatedly incorrectly suggested Trump was a rapist even after being warned by lawyers at the network. Trump settled too quickly and easily with ABC for 15 million, but he still has a pending lawsuit against CBS for aiding Harris’s campaign in violation of FCC rules and regulations.
This is why the recent resignation of CBS News President Wendy McMahon, which comes on the back of longtime 60 Minutes producer Bill Owens stepping down, is a more important story than some in the media are suggesting. The American people have completely lost confidence in the failing and pathetic legacy media, and these supposed news outlets desperately need to be reformed. While the media landscape is much more decentralized today, millions of Americans still rely on this decaying institution for news. There is still a place in the nation’s society for a fair and objective legacy media that actually reports real news and tries to inform the public. The legacy media is not completely irrelevant, and like many failing institutions, there is still hope for reform.
CBS and 60 Minutes no longer functioned as news outlets after Trump won in 2015, this network was turned into a left-wing propaganda channel that just pumped out lies and gaslighted the President and his supporters 24 hours a day. While the radicals pretending to be journalists like Owens and McMahon are trying to suggest these individuals stepped down because of an attack by the Trump administration on the press, as usual, the opposite is true. The President’s lawsuit and the need for CBS’s parent company Paramount Global to get a merger approved by the current administration has led to much-needed reforms that are likely causing the left-wing radicals who destroyed CBS’s credibility by going on a personal crusade against MAGA to be forced out. The partisans who were destroying what little credibility the liberal press had left are being flushed out, and this is a first but still important sign that the reforms necessary for the media to go back to actually reporting the news rather than putting out nonstop propaganda are coming.
The fact Trump and the MAGA movement have been as successful as this political effort has been with nearly 90 percent of the television coverage of him and his supporters negative, with most stories made up, is astounding. President Trump prevailed despite the entire legacy media being against him, the legal system weaponized to prevent the 47th President from returning to power, and multiple assassination attempts that nearly took his life. President Trump overcame all odds not once but twice, and now he is making sure the reforms are in place to return power back to the American people and also help make sure that the American people are able actually access real and accurate information without in any way interfering with a critically important first amendment that the previous administration trampled on.
