Gibraltar, And Surrender

Everyone living in Gibraltar wants to stay British. This is an issue that returns a 99% vote in favour of being British every time the people are asked. When Blair tried to give it away, I supported it remaining British and received a letter from the government of Gibraltar thanking me for that.

Staying British receives 99% support in Gibraltar. Having Keir Starmer and Labour as our government received just 19% of the potential support from voting age adults in the UK.

Gibraltar is also the single most strategic military asset in Western Europe in terms of its location alone.

So of course Starmer is determined to give it away. Modelled on the Chagos deal, he will probably agree to pay billions to Spain as well.

Don’t be fooled that this isn’t the intent of the Gib deal. Spain and the EU both know that Starmer agreeing joint border control and treating Gibraltar as part of the Schengen Agreement area is a ceding of British sovereignty. It’s not about removing Spanish obstruction and facilitating easier traffic and trade. It’s about showing that the British government is happy to transfer control over Gibraltar.

The Gibraltar deal means that Brits going to Gibraltar are limited by EU rules on how long they can stay.

We let anyone invade the UK and stay forever. Come on a dinghy and you’ll be given food, housing and welfare. Indefinitely.

But be British and go to a British Overseas Territory? Spain decides how long you can stay there. It’s absurd.

Perhaps we should let the EU decide whether a Brit can visit the Isle of Wight?

Signing away loyal people is of course a disgusting betrayal. Signing away a strategic asset is of course a treasonous act. Accepting foreign control on your own territory is betrayal too. Limiting your citizens travelling from one territory you control to another you control but not limiting anyone illegally entering your territory….well, it’s a joke, isn’t it?

But Starmer is doing his job. This man exists to destroy Britain. To destroy every single last vestige of success, every reminder of glory, every achievement, and every asset. People like him aren’t just so in love with the EU that they will give an EU nation anything we own.

People like him fundamentally believe that British success, independence and power is evil and all authority and assets held by Britain must be transferred to the EU or abroad, to people and institutions that are inherently better than us.

That’s what this has in common with the ‘reset’ that concedes our territorial waters to the EU. That’s what this has in common with the Chagos deal. It’s why this government gives 500 million to farms in Africa while taxing British farms out of existence.

It’s much more important to Starmer or Lammy to feel good (by ‘decolonisation’ and ending the very last little shreds of Britain’s old glory) then it is to do good and defend British interests.

You can’t have a good negotiating outcome when our side is represented by people who get a progressive moral buzz out of giving things away and betraying our interests. Every UK negotiation for the next four years at least is going to be between people who hate Britain….and people who hate Britain.

I expect to see the Falklands, the Elgin Marbles, reparations for slavery all see concessions and betrayal, and any and every diminishing of the nation concession, every demand from any enemy, be met by this government, enthusiastically. I can’t think of anything they would try to preserve or save or any situation in which a foreign demand was not something that they wanted themselves.

The only people on Earth at the moment who could make a demand to our government and be refused are….us.

And the Russians.
