Padilla Is Dems’ Latest Drama Queen
The Democrats staged another episode of political theatre yesterday. This time, the lead actor was California Senator Alex Padilla, who is 52 years old but decided to throw away his self-esteem and act like a four-year-old child throwing a tantrum.
Let’s set the scene. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was conducting a news conference at the Wilshire Federal Building in Los Angeles concerning the riots by radical leftists against the enforcement of deportations by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
During the news conference, Padilla, who is a pretty large guy, burst into the room and began shouting at Noem. Cutting her off in mid-sentence, Padilla yelled:
“Secretary, I want to know why you insist on exaggerating and embellishing.”
The thin-skinned Padilla was reportedly offended by Noem’s labeling of the Democrats defending the riots as “Socialists” and by a series of images depicting some of the worst illegal immigrants displayed behind Noem on stage. Those images depicted illegals who had committed everything from rape to murder and were subsequently arrested in the ICE raids that sparked LA’s riots nearly a week ago, which the DHS has been publicizing as protests continue.
As security moved in to remove the disruptive Padilla, he yelled out as he resisted being removed:
“I’m Sen. Alex Padilla. I have questions for the secretary. Because the fact of the matter is that a half a dozen criminals that you’re rotating on your … on your …”
Padilla cut off, but continued to yell, “Hands off!” several times, before being finally pushed out of the room, allowing the news conference to continue.
Once off stage, Padilla was forced to his knees, then placed face down as officers handcuffed him with his hands behind his back.
In a weak attempt to defend his obviously childish act, Padilla launched into his well-rehearsed display of phony indignation:
“If this is how the DHS responds to a senator with a question, you can only imagine what they are doing to farmworkers, cooks, day laborers out in the Los Angeles community and throughout California and throughout the country.”
Geez, Alex, can you be any more obvious?
Noem told a much different version of the staged stunt. She insisted Padilla was detained because her Secret Service detachment was trying to protect her.
In an episode of Martha MacCallum’s “The Story,” Noem describes what actually happened.
“This man burst into the room, started lunging toward the podium, interrupting me and elevating his voice, and was stopped — did not identify himself — and was removed from the room.”
“The way that he acted was completely inappropriate. It wasn’t becoming a US senator or a public official. Perhaps he wanted the scene, and that’s what he wanted, but I think the American people are sick of this kind of action. I think the American people are tired of this; they just want the truth.”
Other Democrats wasted no time lathering on additional pretend outrage. Chief hypocrites, Governor Gavin Newsom and LA Mayor Karen Bass, posted on X.
Newsome:
“If they can handcuff a U.S. Senator for asking a question, imagine what they will do to you.”
Bass called Padilla’s detainment “absolutely abhorrent and outrageous.” Then she posted:
“He is a sitting United States Senator. This administration’s violent attacks on our city must end.”
Is she serious? She calls Trump defending American law and American citizens an attack, but ignores the fact that rioters are looting and burning Los Angeles. This is the distorted reasoning of the left.
No Democratic Melodrama would be complete without Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer putting in his over-dramatic and worthless two cents. While on the Senate floor, Schumer whined, “I just saw something that sickened my stomach — the manhandling of a United States senator.”
When she was rudely interrupted by Padilla, Noem was explaining that the federal government, with the help of the National Guard and Marines, would not turn their backs on the city.
“We are staying here to liberate this city from the socialist and the burdensome leadership that this governor and this mayor have placed on this country.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) proposed that Senator Padilla be censured, which means formally rebuked by Congress, for his actions that Johnson described as “wildly inappropriate.”
During a gathering celebrating the passage of the rescissions package, he told reporters:
“It’s beneath a U.S. senator; they are supposed to lead by example. That is not a good example. We have to turn the temperature down in this country, not escalate it. The Democratic Party is on the wrong side. They’re defending lawbreakers and now they’re acting like lawbreakers themselves.”
When he was asked about Padilla’s explanation, Johnson stated:
“That’s oversight? Charging a cabinet secretary in a press conference, I beg to differ.”
In 2017, Johnson established the Honor and Civility Caucus in Congress. He mentioned that the House is unlikely to investigate the matter and will probably let the Senate handle the situation.
During his interaction with the press while celebrating rescissions, classless Democrats walked by and heckled him, yelling, “You’re full of it, Mike,” and “That’s a lie.”
Padilla was the obvious choice for the starring role in this fiasco. He is a native of Los Angeles, born to Mexican immigrant parents. In 2021, Newsom appointed him as the U.S. senator for California to succeed Kamala Harris when she was sworn in as vice president. He later won the seat in the 2022 election. He has been openly critical of the Trump administration’s response to the Los Angeles riots, which were sparked by mass ICE arrests of illegal aliens on Friday.
On Monday, he told NBC Los Angeles, “This is not a rebellion,” apparently in response to President Trump and his officials accurately describing the riots as an “insurrection.”
After the lights went down on The Democrat’s folly starring Padilla, He met with Noem for about 15 minutes after she wrapped up the news conference. By then, he had been released, and they agreed to discuss the situation in LA further.
According to Noem:
“We probably disagree on 90 percent of the topics, but we agreed to exchange phone numbers, we’ll continue to talk and share information, and I think that’s the way it should be in this country. I wish he would have acted that way in the beginning instead of creating a scene like this.”
Yes, Kristi, that would have been nice, but then again, the Democrats will do anything to try to justify their sad, pathetic existence, including outrageous shenanigans like this.
Play-acting, and lying are second nature to liberals, even when the plot doesn’t make sense and the acting is horrible.
