The Events in LA County again Show that Immigration Remains Trump’s Strongest Issue with Voters
The Democratic party is lost today. While the left was organized during Trump’s successful term, the same Democrats who had a clear message and easily identifiable leaders are not a party with either. Despite claims of division in the Republican ranks, conservatives have proven that they are more effective at running the country than their Democratic counterparts over the last 17 years since Obama and Biden both showed to be incompetent. The chaos and violence that the left has engaged in consistently since Trump won in 2016 is shockingly not a formula for success or winning many votes with ordinary Americans.
One of the big lies about the 2024 election is that Trump’s landslide win in November was simply because of prices being high and the weak economy. While obviously, those two issues were factors, the last election cycle was much more about priorities and values than a simple referendum on economic leadership. President Trump has made the Republican party one of the working classes while maintaining a broad-based political coalition that includes business, evangelicals, and now newer demographics such as young men from different racial groups as well. Trump won nearly 30 percent of black men under the age of 40 against Harris. The signature piece of legislation that Biden and the Democrats passed during his failed administration, the absurdly named Inflation-Reduction Act, focused on climate change, not issues most Americans care about or prioritize.
This is why the recent events in LA County and the battle over the deportation of MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia highlight that immigration remains a strong political issue for the 47th President for multiple reasons. First, the base of the Republican party cares deeply about securing the borders, and Trump’s actions to deport illegals, particularly violent ones who this administration is currently targeting, is so important politically in addition to being the right policy move for the country. The issue of immigration also shows the President is prioritizing the needs of middle-class Americans above those of noncitizens such as Arego Garcia, and the trips Democrats make to El Salvador to advocate for an illegal who is a wife-beater and gang member are just further evidence that the left is not focused or concerned with the plight of ordinary Americans, many of who are struggling from 4 years of failed Democratic policies. The issue of illegal immigration shows the varying priorities of both parties more than any other issue, and this topic is a loser for today’s failing Democrat party which has a 30 percent approval rating.
The issue of immigration also gives President Trump an opportunity to again show how important law and order are to him. Trump has said repeatedly that the United States needs to be a country of laws, and the Democrat’s insistence on maintaining sanctuary cities and keeping the border open shows the left is simply not concerned with crime or public security, 2 key issues of particularly significant important to important demographics such as suburban women. The President’s decision to put down the riot early while California’s failed far-left leaders refused to act or even speak on the need to calm down the situation again showed Trump was the one maintaining order. The notion that sending the guard in escalate an already volatile and dangerous situation is absurd, the radical left-wing rioters were fully responsible for the violence and property destruction has occurred in LA County.
Today, most Americans support President Trump’s deportation plan, with polls showing nearly 54 percent are behind him on this issue, a high number in today’s heavily polarized country. America saw the country’s cities descend into chaos in 2020, and with the crime that followed, the nation has no appetite to see that kind of chaos the left created in the President’s first term again. The left’s forceful defense of illegals at a time when the middle class is struggling also shows how out-of-touch most Democrats are. Immigration was a winning issue for the 47th President in his first term, and the recent violence in LA County again shows that this fact has not changed.
