Walz Finally Condemning Political Violence Five Years After Minneapolis Burned? Too Little Too Late!

Sometimes politicians have to deal in absolutes. While often cases there is room for nuance, detail, and evolving positions, there are also occasions when a leader has to take a firm and unwavering position. Those who are not willing to universally and strongly condemn violence all of the time have no credibility on any issue. Violence of any type has no place in society or in politics, and when heinous acts occur leaders need to swiftly and forcefully speak on them without equivocation.

One of the most pathetic developments that occurred after Trump’s 2016 victory was the willingness of the leaders of the Democratic party and on the left to support politically convenient political violence. Whether left-wing activists such as Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo were suggesting that protests don’t need to be peaceful on the air at CNN, several leading Democratic politicians suggested that the race riots in cities should continue until there was what these individuals absurdly referred to as social justice, or even the Democratic nominee Biden, refused to condemn the destruction and killing until his polls number fell after the violence in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the Democrats accept political violence as part of their party. When a leader is quiet while their supporters engage in violence, silence is complicity and inaction shows support for those engaging in these criminal actions.

Tim Waltz let Minneapolis burn after George Floyd’s tragic death, and he refused to speak up against the violence that ravaged the city as well. The incompetent left-wing governor and failed Vice President set the tone for the nationwide violence by not sending in the National Guard to quell what started as a fairly small and manageable riot in his state. Waltz and the Democratic party barely even condemned the multiple assassination attempts against the President, and the left also continued to use dangerous and reckless rhetoric including calling Trump a threat to Democracy even after two attempts on his life. The Minnesota Governor is a very good example of everything that is wrong with a Democratic party that supported defunding the police, is okay with political violence, and advocates more for illegal immigrants than their own citizens. Waltz also supported driver’s licenses for illegals.

This is why the hypocrisy of Waltz finally condemning the despicable violence that occurred over the weekend when 2 Minnesota lawmakers were shot, and one killed, is so glaring. Former Minnesota state speaker Melissa Hortman and current state Senator John Hoffman were targetted in an apparently politically motivated attack that left Hortman and her husband dead while Hoffman and his wife were wounded but survived. Waltz of course came out after these appalling acts to finally say that all acts of political violence should be condemned, but his and the words of other Democratic leaders speaking out against political violence are too little too late.

There was no thought of political violence being acceptable in America prior to 2020 when the riots after George Floyd’s death were seen as an opportunity by the Democrats and their left-wing allies in the media to promote the absurd and false narrative that these violent criminals were fighting for social justice against a racist government led by Trump. Biden only condemned the political violence after poll numbers began to fall after the rioting in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Obama, Pelosi, and other left-wing leaders, also showed support for the violent groups as well. Waltz and other Democratic leaders have zero credibility to condemn political violence at this point, and their attempts to deflect from the failures of leadership=of Democrats talking about Trump are as transparent as they are pathetic.

While obviously anyone engaging in a criminal act is responsible for their actions, the political violence that leaders on the left supported while Trump was in office opened a pandora’s box and took important guardrails off an already fragile American political system. One of the main reasons why January 6th occurred is because of how fed-up some individuals were with seeing left-wing rioters engage in continuous violence over absurd grievances with almost zero consequences for years. Tim Waltz and the Democratic Party’s condemnation of political violence comes four years too late, and the recent attack over the weekend shows the power of setting dangerous precedents.
