Why Illegal Immigration is a Massive Tax-Payer Subsidy for American Businesses

Immigration remains the strongest issue for President Trump. There is no other topic that shows the enormous divide between today’s failing Democratic Party and the fact that the Republicans are now the party of the middle and working class. The left would rather fight and advocate for criminal illegal aliens like recently deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an MS-13 gang member. Gavin Newsom’s recent absurd statements against President Trump’s action to send in the National Guard and Marines to protect the men and women of ICE in LA county during the recent riots once again showed how out of touch with the American people the Democratic party is with the country.

One of the biggest lies that left and their allies in the failing liberal media push is that illegal immigrants work the jobs Americans will not and thus a plus for the US economy. The reality is that illegal immigrants make up only 16 percent of the agricultural workforce, and only 9 percent of illegal immigrants work in this industry. While obviously some people who come to America are not violent or bad people, illegal immigration is a cost for the US economy and the nation’s taxpayers, not a benefit.

Most illegal immigrants who work in the US are not paid a living wage. Employers know these individuals have no leverage or bargaining power, and these businesses and companies pay very low amounts of money in order to maximize profits. Indeed, there is no reason for most owners to take the risk of illegally employing a person who is undocumented unless that person can pay them below market-level wages. What happens when workers are not paid a living wage is they cannot afford adequate housing, health care, and education for themselves and their children. When these people get sick or need surgery they usually go to the emergency room because they don’t have health care, and those extremely expensive medical services are then passed on to the customers of hospitals and other institutions with higher health insurance premiums. The free education and housing that states provide for illegal immigrants because these individuals don’t make enough pay for these necessary services and needs are also paid for by taxpayers.

The city of Chicago spent over $600 million on illegal immigrants from 2022 to 2024, and illegal immigrants have cost New York City $5 billion over the last 2 years as well. Even Democratic mayor Adams was forced to admit that significant cuts to health care, education, and law enforcement, were necessary to pay for the massive costs of illegal immigration due to the failed Biden administration’s open border policy. The cuts that state and local governments have to make to pay for illegals come directly out of middle-income and poor communities, the wealthier parts of a state are obviously likely to get less taxpayer money. When hospitals and medical institutions close because they can’t afford to provide care for illegals without insurance this also disproportionately impacts middle and low-income communities since people with means will have an easier time finding alternative places to seek medical care.

There were many border towns and cities that were overrun by the disgusting and failed Biden Administration’s open border policies, and the true cost of the prior regime’s refusal to enforce the law will likely never be fully known. When illegals come to America some companies benefit from getting cheap labor, but the taxpayer ends up paying for education, health care, and other services for these individuals. This support is taxpayer subsidies for businesses and one of the main reasons why illegal immigration is not in any way economically benefitting the country in totality. For many decades leaders of both parties sold-out the country by supporting open borders because these individuals were bought off by the companies who benefitted from this cheap labor, those days are over now.
