Mamdani’s Communist Proposals again show Why the Democrats Only Want to Talk About Trump

The Democratic Party has become an embarrassment. The left spent the entire 2024 election talking about defending democracy and saving the country from Fascism. Harris and the Democrats did not have a single serious policy proposal to address any of the many substantive problems the country faced after 4 years of the failed Biden administration. The former Vice President’s supposed policy platform was so pathetic that she was reduced to claiming each American family would get $25,000 to buy a house, a proposal that no remotely objective observer thought was serious or would pass through Congress. Harris’s only answer to inflation was an inflationary idea.

The Democrats represent nobody and no one; the party is also devoid of any even somewhat credible economic ideas. The left spends far more time talking about defending illegal immigrants and planning to raise taxes than on any policy proposals that would address the many challenges the middle class faces. This is why the recent absurd policy proposals of the Democratic nominee for the mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, are so interesting. The far-left candidate who claims to be a Democratic Socialist has now articulated what are clearly communist policies. Mamdani has outlined policy proposals to have the government take over food and grocery stores, and even to have public control over housing in New York City. The Democratic candidate is to the left of even Bernie Sanders and most progressives, and his policy ideas are as radical as these absurd proposals are nonsensical.

Even though New York City obviously is not representative of the nation, the same left-wing voters who have been moving the Democrats to the left since Bernie ran in 2015 are in control of today’s Democratic party. While Trump was obviously the incumbent President in 2020, Harris did not run on policy in 2024, and the Democrats have still not articulated any policies or even precepts of what the party would do to address inflation, the wealth gap, or any other serious economic or social issue the country faces. Most far-left progressives at the national level, such as AOC and Bernie Sanders, also rarely talk about policy ideas that these individuals support.

Mamdani’s proposals are not new or progressive; these ideas are stale and communist. The idea that the incompetent government could run entire industries such as the food and grocery business or the housing sector is beyond absurd. These policies would also destroy the US’s successful market-based economy. Private businesses can’t compete with a government-controlled company that does not care about making a profit; these publicly run entities would destroy entire industries while offering no benefits to citizens. The market-based economy that innovates and competes creates options and the lowest price possible for the customer. If the government takes over, any industry choice and product development are eliminated. A publicly controlled housing industry would not work either. Developers would no longer be incentivized to build new homes, and if too many homes were created, that would destroy the value of existing properties, causing severe financial distress. There is a reason that not one communist country has ever been successful in the world. China shifted away from the failed central control model since the 1980s.

President Trump has a clear economic agenda, and his policies have produced results going back to 2016. The 47th President has implemented successful tax reforms and deregulated the economy to help bring manufacturing jobs back to the US and rebuild the middle class. Michigan and Ohio had record economic numbers in his first term, the steel industry was revitalized, and the President’s policies helped achieve meaningfully low unemployment, since wages were actually keeping up with inflation. Trump also renegotiated failed trade agreements such as NAFTA, and the President is currently using tariffs to level the economic environment even more. While the far left is showing the absurd and failed policies most of these radicals support, Trump continues to deliver for the American people.
