The New York Mayoral Race is Yet Another Reminder that the College System has Failed America’s Youth
The left’s answer to everything is to spend money. While Trump has focused in his second term on government efficiency, eliminating fraud and abuse, and focusing on the middle class of this country, not illegal immigrants or foreign nations such as Ukraine, the failed Biden administration threw money at nearly every challenge the senile former leader faced without any actual plan. The reckless and incompetent spending that the Democrats engaged in from 2020 to 2024 led directly to runaway inflation and had devastating economic consequences for the nation as well.
There was no better example of the failed Biden administration’s reckless spending than the prior regime’s effort to bail out those with student loan debt. The college and education system have clearly failed America’s youth. Today, the number of people with student loan debt is 42.7 million, and these individuals collectively hold nearly $1.8 trillion in debt, with much of this money owed to the Federal government. Obviously, many of these loans will never get repaid. The left took over the University system in the 1960s and 1970s when a variety of social movements throughout the US were occurring; the results for the country have been devastating.
While the value of a college degree has never been lower, the cost of higher education, even adjusted for inflation, has never been higher. There are many electricians and carpenters making more money than those with a degree, and many who graduate from college don’t even work in the areas they studied. While college absolutely makes sense for many people who know what they want to study or are getting technical degrees in fields such as engineering, most areas of study at the university level, such as gender studies, have no economic value in the real world. The left has used the university system to indocrinate a entire generation of Americans with the patently false and absurd ideas that socialism and communism are functional ideologies, and many younger people are leaving higher education after being indocrinated and loaded up with debt without being taught any real skills that have actual value in the real world. The reality is that much of the massive amount of outstanding student loan obligations will never be paid off.
The recent victory of Zohran Mamdani in the Democratic primary, a 33-year-old self-described Democratic Socialist who supports what are clearly communist policies, is yet another example of how extreme and radical many of the younger progressives on the left have become. These are the same individuals who thought that burning cities down for months in the so-called name of social justice was acceptable, and many of these people are completely ignorant of the real and disgusting history of vile left-wing regimes in the 20th century, such as Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot. The University system has indoctrinated rather than educated many of the youth of America, and these failing institutions have also done this on the public dime, the citizens of this country subsidizing the miseducation of millions of Americans.
The education and student loan system in America is desperately in need of multiple levels of reform. Too many people are taking on massive debt to get an education that has little to now value in the real world, and even reading scores at the K-12 level are emberassing, The fact that millions of Americans would support a radical communist who supports socializing the housing and grocery business shows clear failures in our education system. Trump correctly opposes bailing out those with student loan debt, and the 47th President also supports reforming the failing education system with school choice, a popular policy position predictably opposed by a Democratic party controlled by the teachers’ union. Indeed, while Trump’s economic policies have been successful, the President’s social and cultural reform he will continue to implement during his second administration, is an equally important and critical part of the MAGA movement.
