Can Trump Eliminate Mail-In Voting?

The White House is working on a plan to do away with mail-in voting and voting machines, press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday.

A reporter asked how can the White House plan to eliminate mail-in voting since states administeer elections. President Donald Trump posted on TruthSocial on Monday, saying: โ€œI am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS, and also, while weโ€™re at it, Highly โ€˜Inaccurate,โ€™ Very Expensive, and Seriously Controversial VOTING MACHINES.โ€

Leavitt said the Trump administration will be working with friends on Capitol Hill and in state legislatures to โ€œensure that weโ€™re protecting the integrity of the vote for the American people.โ€

โ€œI think Republicans generally, and the President generally, wants to make it easier for Americans to vote and harder for people to cheat in our elections,โ€ she said. โ€œAnd itโ€™s quite mind-boggling that the Democrat Party could stand in opposition to common sense.โ€

Leavitt assured reporters that election integrity in the 2026 midterms remains a โ€œpriority,โ€ adding: โ€œThere were great efforts that were made in 2024.โ€
