Decoding The Hamas Propaganda Is Easy Once You Get The Hang Of It
For those confused by how people like me support Israel despite constant terrible reports of Israeli crimes, I thought it might be helpful to translate some of the recurring phrases that get more gullible people incensed at Israel.
On the left I’ve put the common media phrase, and on the right I’ve explained what it actually means:
Genocide in Gaza=how dare you respond to our genocidal attacks
The IDF have bombed a hospital = Hamas have lost a terrorist command post
The IDF have opened fire on civilians queuing for aid = Hamas have opened fire on civilians queuing for aid.
Israel killed a journalist = Israel killed a terrorist.
Israel killed a loving father = Israel killed a terrorist.
Israel bombed a Christian church = it’s still there, wasn’t bombed but we know you don’t do any research.
Israel is an imperial power ruthlessly built on conquest and theft of land = you probably don’t realise that Israel is about the same size as Wales.
The IDF are raping, murderous maniacs = the IDF have killed our raping, murderous maniacs and it’s soooo unfair.
Palestinian children are starving = Palestinian leaders are all billionaires, and the aid is missing. But we are confident you are too thick to join the dots on this baffling mystery.
Israel’s war continues = why the hell don’t Jews just let people kill them? You know, like the good old days.
Israel’s war of aggression = oh come on, let us kill you and you do nothing. Come on! It’s soooo unfair.
International leaders have urged Israel to show restraint = international leaders have said “oh come on, why can’t you just let them kill you?”
Israel launched its latest attack = sure we can phrase it this way, none of them believe Oct 7th even happened.
Picture of a crying child = stock footage from another conflict. Or from a 20 year old article about a kid in a play based on Dickens.
Picture of a starving child = a kid with severe congenital conditions.
Tell us how the Palestinian Pele died = some Palestinian footballer you never heard of was killed by Hamas.
Suffering people = terrorists.
Innocent casualties = terrorists.
The Palestinians = terrorists.
Another Palestinian mother is grieving = you can find a clip of her screaming Kill the Jews in five minutes if you have access to her social media.
Attitudes to the Israel-Hamas wars present the same test as attitudes to COVID policy or attitudes to the necessity of ‘saving Ukraine’ or, earlier than these, attitudes to Trump.
In each case if your views are controlled by media (mainstream or alternative) and have no deep roots of independent logic and morality, if you can’t ’touch the grass’ and tell when it’s artificial, you fall firmly on one side of the event or issue, and if you have logic, morality and some kind of contact with reality, you fall on the other side of the interpretation of the event.
The mediated response is always false.
People forget that because some of them opposed one Media mandated reaction, only to then enthusiastically fall for the next one. People who sneered at the gullibility of those who succumbed to mainstream media on COVID, then display the same gullibility towards Israel hating alternative media and Pallywood productions.
But they are equally gullible and equally controlled.
