Democrat Governor Signs First Universal “Mental Health” Screenings For Public School Students

All ideas are not equal. Ask yourself this: when something sounds like a good idea, many times what determines whether it is or not depends on the underlying motive for instituting it. One thing we have all learned is that liberal leftists love to disguise their fascist agenda under the guise of a good idea. They’ll sugarcoat poison to get the public to drink it.

The governor of Illinois, who is known for his liberal policies, signed a new state initiative into law on Thursday. He claims that this program will improve mental health for children throughout the state. The initiative is set to start in 2027 and will include annual mental health screenings for students in third grade and higher, according to a report by WGN.

Here comes the sugarcoating:

“As governor of this great state, as a father, and as a great advocate for mental health, this is an issue that is both important and very personal to me. Our goal is an integrated, comprehensive approach to quality mental and behavioral health services for young people across the state.”

Here comes the problem. The Illinois Board of Education will work with children’s behavioral experts to implement the program that, for now, can be opted out of by parents.

“Just as with vision and hearing screenings, parents can opt out if they wish,” Dr. Dana Weiner, who helped develop the program, said. “But what we have heard from families and from young people is that an annual check on sadness, worry, fear, and other problems would help to identify young people who need to talk before they experience the crisis that makes, that require, more serious, even hospital-based interventions.”

According to Pritzker, six state agencies will be involved in the process.

“We will begin equipping school districts with the resources necessary to implement universal mental health screenings, just as we have been screening for vision, hearing challenges that students have had for many years. We will now provide assessments for mental health.”

Vision and hearing screening is in no way an apples-to-apples comparison to a mental health evaluation. Raising your hand when you hear a tone or reading an eye chart can’t be manipulated.

However, testing kids starting in the third grade is just another opportunity to twist their young and impressionable minds. The left is very aware of the power of suggestion, and they are masters at implanting ideas into those who are vulnerable, naïve, and unassuming. This sounds like an acceptable idea, but in the hands of the deprived and perverted, no idea can have the desired outcome.

This is a ploy by the governor of Illinois to further subvert parental rights. EVERY PARENT needs to opt out of this assessment immediately. No one should let a wolf in the hen house, especially when your children are the vulnerable prey and leftist fascists are the wolves.
