For Jim Ross, There Should Be No Statute Of Limitations On Ignorance

A statute of limitations is a law that establishes a deadline for starting legal proceedings, whether for criminal charges or civil lawsuits, following an event. The purpose of this statute is to ensure that cases are resolved fairly within a reasonable timeframe, as evidence can be lost and witnesses’ memories may fade over time. If the deadline is missed, the case or criminal charge may be dismissed.

Yes, the statute of limitations does limit the criminal consequences in criminal cases and monetary recovery in civil cases. However, when a person displays outrageous behavior that only comes to light years later, there are still judgments and ramifications that can be imposed upon the perpetrator.

Jim Ross is the mayor of Arlington, Texas. A video of him has reemerged where he was seen using vulgar and sexually explicit language with a Christian street preacher during an LGBT event in 2018.

Vice News filmed Ross in an argument with Ruben Israel, a street preacher, during the Southern Decadence event in New Orleans, Louisiana, before his mayoral term. I realize that this occurred seven years ago, but still, IMHO, this video is so disturbing that I believe Ross should step down as mayor.

“I believe y’all can have free speech,” Ross said in the video. “But this is some hateful s***, and I am a heterosexual guy.”

“You stand out here like you are a bad a** motherf**ker,” Ross told Israel before making crude remarks about his wife. “You don’t think anal sex is good, do you? Have you ever f**ked your old lady in the a**? I’d f**k your old lady in the a**.”

Bottom of Form

“Shut your a**. Shut your a**, you little piece of s***. You ought to talk s***. These people around here are having a good f***ing time.”

At one point, Ross called Israel a “p***y motherf**ker.”

According to the Christian Post, Israel, the man Ross verbally abused and intimidated, passed away in 2023.

Tarrant County GOP Chairman Bo French stated that the video was “extremely shocking.”

“What a disgusting piece of human garbage. Mayor Ross should resign immediately.”

Tarrant County Republican Precinct Chair TK Campbell added,

“The now Mayor of Arlington’s vile, profanity-laced rant at the late Ruben Israel, a Christian street preacher, is a disgrace.”

“Perhaps the mayor was stressed out because of not being able to pay his taxes of late, but his unprofessional conduct mirrors the worst of today’s cursing Democrats. Leadership demands better.”

Campbell was referring to the fact that the IRS is garnishing Ross’s salary for missing tax payments to the tune of nearly $175,000. The unpaid taxes are from 2015 and 2019. A Notice of Federal Tax Lien from the IRS lists the amounts owed at $79,418.73 in 2015 and $95,527.20 in 2019. The notice was included in documents filed as part of a lawsuit for unpaid property taxes. Ross’s back taxes were mentioned in a post by The Dallas Express.

Even though this video is in the rear-view mirror, it speaks volumes about Ross’s character. This was a public display of vile profanity against a Christian street preacher. You have to ask yourself, would he have treated LGBTQ protesters at a Christian rally in the same manner? I doubt it with every fiber of my body, so Ross must go to preserve Arlington’s reputation.
