The Dystopian Nightmare in Tucson, Arizona
By now, everyone pretty much knows that everything woke leftists touch turns to crap, and large cities are no exception. Find any place with a metro area of a million people, and you can guarantee leftists will grab hold of the reins of power and the deadbeats, drug addicts and illegal aliens will follow.
Tucson is no different.
Once a thriving, vibrant and growing city in Southeast Arizona, Tucson now resembles other third word cities like Los Angeles and Chicago. Bums populate nearly every major intersection, dregs push shopping carts along the street, and encampments of cardboard boxes, tents and other makeshift housing line riverbeds and take up the majority of real estate in the parks.
The city, led by Mayor Regina Romero, who was elected in 2019, has a bizarre method for electing representatives to the City Council. The primaries are limited to voters who are registered with the candidate’s party and in the ward in which they are running. However, in the general election, voters citywide can vote for the candidate of their choice regardless of the Ward they live in. In essence, it’s an extra layer of protection to ensure the city council remains firmly under leftist control with no dissenting members allowed.
A rigged government, coupled with endless free money giveaways, means Tucson will continue down the path of self-destruction that brought it to the point where no one wants to live inside the city limits unless they’re forced to.
Residents Near Udall Park Had Enough
Fear for their children led residents on Tucson’s east side to air their grievances in a recent meeting with city officials. The impetus for the gathering was a plea from the Sabino Canyon Little League to Pima County Attorney Laura Conover. In an email, League president Brad Balazs explained that the league’s kids were finding “drugs in the dugouts” and “hypodermic needles” in the batting cages at Udall Park. The situation had become so dangerous, the league was losing more kids every year because drug users had taken over the public bathrooms.
So, Balazs and some of his players, along with dozens of Ward 2 residents, wondered what was being done about the drug and housing crisis in Tucson?
The answers they received were far from satisfactory and reflected typical woke leftist deflection.
Tucson Police East Captain Matt Brady explained that his operations division has responded to over a hundred thousand “events” since January 2024 with only 55 officers. In response, Ward 2 Councilmember Paul Cunningham said the city was providing outreach to homeless people in collaboration with TPD.
Outreach? Seriously?
Since the mayor and council invite homeless people, drug addicts and illegal aliens to Tucson, it’s no surprise that resources are stretched too thin to hire enough cops to keep the parks in Tucson safe. After all, as a sanctuary city, Tucson is obliged to help all the illegal aliens who come to Tucson, and they do so generously through free housing in hotels, free education and a laundry list of social services too long to mention. In 2023 alone, Pima County voted to pass through $4.3 million to the City of Tucson for reimbursement for hotel rooms for “asylum seekers.”
And, lest we forget, free bus fare.
Free Bus Fare to Solve the Homeless Crisis
Faced with the crisis of crime, quality of life deterioration and no money for essential services, the city council voted to provide free bus fare for anyone who rides the Sun Tran public transportation system. These brainiacs believe that if the homeless, drug addicts and illegal aliens can move around freely, they will use this resource to get a steady job, get off the streets and get on someone’s payroll.
Fat chance that was ever going to work.
In fact, free bus fare in Tucson is such a failure that Teamsters Local Union 104 is now demanding immediate action to ensure the safety of their drivers since an escalation of violent incidents this year that include:
* On May 12, 42-year-old Frank Rick Lopez allegedly attacked two people with a hatchet at a Sun Tran bus stop near Sabino Canyon and Tanque Verde Roads.
* On July 9, a 15-year-old woman was arrested after a 19-year-old woman was injured during a knife fight on a bus at the Ronstadt Center in Tucson.
* On July 25, a woman was arrested for allegedly stabbing a man on a bus at the Laos Transit Center in Tucson.
* On Aug. 11, a man was injured in a stabbing at the Ronstadt Center in downtown Tucson.
* On Aug. 12, a man was injured in a fight and stabbing at the Loas Transit Center in Tucson.
* On Aug. 20, a man was injured in a fight and stabbing at the Tohono Tadai Transit Center near the Tucson Mall.
* On Sept. 9, a Sun Tran driver was injured in an assault at Udall Park in Tucson.
* On Oct. 6, an elderly man was injured in an assault at a Sun Tran bus stop at Pantano and Stella in Tucson.
Hector, a Sun Tran driver, said the violence has increased as ridership has changed. “Our ridership now consists of many people that just go from bus stop to bus stop, whether it’s, you know, doing drugs, drinking on the bus,” he said. “That’s all they do is ride along all day and night.”
Remember, They Want You on Public Transportation
Never forget the ultimate objective of the leftist movement is nefarious. They want to confiscate whatever wealth you have acquired and redistribute it to those who don’t deserve it. They want to ensure that your life is as miserable as the lowest person on the socio-economic scale. In transportation, that means forcing you out of your gas vehicle and into an EV, which they already know is an environmental disaster. When gas vehicles are a historical footnote, they’ll start exposing what we already know about EVs in order to get them banned. They’ll act like they didn’t know any of this beforehand.
It’s shameful how these Democrats have turned our cities into living hellholes, and worse, they’re hoping to bring this way of life to your neighborhood.
