That Didn’t Take Long, Mandami Jets Out Of The “Red Apple”

In lieu of Zohran Mamdani being elected as mayor of New York, let it be declared that from this point on, New York will no longer be known as the “Big Apple.” Instead, the city will be called by the more fitting moniker of the “Red Apple.”

Yes, the voters have spoken, and in this case, they have dug themselves a real hole. Continuing to vote Democrat with the city decaying in front of their eyes is bad enough, but to vote in a Democrat/Socialist/Communist is taking things to a psychotic level of civil ineptitude.

It didn’t take long for their decision to be rewarded. The newly “elected” mayor, accompanied by Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul, decided that, in the middle of a Democrat orchestrated government shutdown, he could best serve his constituents by jetting off to a conference in sunny and warm Puerto Rico to attend the 2025 SOMOS Conference on Thursday, an event for New York and Puerto Rican officials, community leaders, and advocates to discuss policies affecting Puerto Rican communities. Unofficially, the conference offers a change of scenery and a relaxed atmosphere, providing an opportunity for political circles to network and plan their next steps for the year ahead.

This year, the event is taking place at the El Caribe Hilton in San Juan. On the hotel’s website, it bills itself as an:

“Iconic beachfront paradise” with 17 acres of tropical landscaping, nine restaurants, island-inspired rooms, spa, and oceanfront pool complex, all right on the beach.”

I’m sure it’s all about business. According to its schedule:

The multi-day conference features multiple receptions and luncheons, as well as panels such as “Celebrating Human Services Together” and “Workforce Development Through Rising Communities.”

Saturday, the final day of the conference, ends with a “Toes in the Sand Beachfront Party.”

Yep, it’s all business.

Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., told Fox News Digital:

“If Zohran Mamdani is truly serious about helping working families, he wouldn’t be jetting off to a luxury resort the moment he wins an election.”

“It’s a disgrace — and why New Yorkers are leaving this state in droves. I’m calling on every reporter covering SOMOS to demand answers from these Democrats. Ask them why they’re partying in Puerto Rico while New Yorkers are suffering through an affordability crisis and a government shutdown. The public deserves to know where their priorities really lie.”

Lawler is correct, and I’m betting it won’t take long for the public to know EXACTLY where their priorities lie.
