Why Is This School District Flying A Somali Flag?
Democrats and the far left use the words diversity, equity, unity, and inclusiveness as cloaking devices to hide their real intentions. They are more than aware that when they use these words, what will occur is the exact opposite. In cases of business hiring and promotions, or university admissions, the result is an unconstitutional quota system. Still, there are other instances when the only desired effect is to tear at the moral fiber of American tradition and Western Culture.
The Winooski School District, located in western Vermont near the city of Burlington, has decided to fly the Somali flag on its school grounds. They do this under the cloak of “unity,” but the real purpose is to groom the children who attend there that American Pride is no longer appropriate.
Not only is flying a foreign flag inappropriate at public buildings on American soil, but the timing of staging this flag is a sign of defiance against American initiatives. The school district chose to fly this flag while a massive fraud involving Somalia is being exposed in Minnesota.
Paul Dame, chairman of the Vermont Republican Party, told Fox News Digital:
“I just don’t understand why our K through 12 schools think this is the most important thing. I think most Vermonters, probably most Americans, want their schools to focus on reading, writing, and arithmetic, and not what flags get displayed outside the school. It seems like a huge waste of time.”
In a Facebook post on December 5th, the school district tried to explain its reasoning.
“We are raising the Somali flag this week in honor of our Somali youth and families in Winooski and Vermont. On Monday, we will be gathering to celebrate together and to learn more about our civil rights.”
The story went viral on X and other social media platforms, as photos of the flag raising were widely shared online.
That prompted the school district to clarify its original Facebook post.
“First, we want to assure our community that the United States flag remains in its proper place at the highest point, in full accordance with the U.S. Flag Code. The Winooski School District has three flag masts: the U.S. flag on the top mast, the Vermont state flag on the second, and—this week—the Somali flag on the third.”
“The Somali flag is being flown for one week as a gesture of support for our Somali students and families. Winooski is a proudly diverse community, and we are committed to recognizing and uplifting all of the cultures that make our district stronger.”
Dame rejected the district’s weak excuse, calling it “intentionally provocative.” He described the act of raising a foreign flag as divisive.
“It’s not making things better for the students in the school, because obviously there’s probably some students who support that and some students who feel differently. So it’s not doing anything positive to bring the school together or create a better learning environment.”
“People just really have a hard time raising the flag over an American property that’s not the American flag, and I think schools — it’s really imperative that if schools want to be able to bring their community together, they take a look at things like this that are intentionally dividing them and bring their community together.”
The idea that raising a foreign flag at a public school in the United States can in no way be described as inclusive. This is more leftist propaganda that is meant to cause division and hatred. Does anyone believe that an American flag would ever be raised in Somalia?
Dame was correct, this stunt was ‘intentionally provocative.” Designed by school district officials to draw attention to their moronic, radical ideals. School districts are supposed to be educating students, not grooming them to become social zombies that see everything through the rose-colored glasses of leftist ideology.
The learning process should take place in an environment that promotes American values and national unity. That environment certainly does not include the social theatre of raising foreign flags.
