Doc Rivers Can’t Hold A Playoff Lead Or His Racist Tongue

I’m sure plenty of people will disagree, but for me, the NBA is unwatchable. It has become nothing more than a contest of chucking three pointers in a league dominated by overpaid prima donnas.

The league consistently promotes liberal ideology and has created an environment where players are encouraged to speak out on political and social issues. During the 2019-2020 season restart, the league allowed players to wear jerseys featuring social justice messages and painted “Black Lives Matter” on the courts.

The NBA has established itself as one of the most LGBTQ-inclusive professional men’s leagues. This inclusivity is supported by Commissioner Adam Silver and marked by the stunning moment when former player Jason Collins came out as the first openly gay male athlete in North American professional sports in 2013.

Supporting the idea of freedom of speech isn’t the main issue; rather, the problem lies in the fact that the majority of this speech tends to be far-left-leaning and often carries racial overtones. Given that a significant majority of NBA players are Black (78-80 percent), race commentary isn’t surprising.

However, when it consists of blatant lies and pure racism, the league needs to straighten the offender out quickly and take steps so that blowhard bigots can’t spew their hatred without consequences.

In this case, that blowhard is none other than Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers. To be fair and upfront, Rivers did win an NBA championship in 2008 with the Boston Celtics, but what he is best known for is his monumental collapses in other years.

Rivers holds the unfortunate distinction of being the only NBA coach to blow multiple 3-1 playoff leads, doing so three times: with the 2003 Magic (vs. Pistons), 2015 Clippers (vs. Rockets), and 2020 Clippers (vs. Nuggets).

During the 2023-2024 Season, Rivers took over the Bucks’ job in January 2024. The Bucks, under coach Adrian Griffin, had a strong 30-13 record, making them one of the NBA’s top teams, but after Rivers’ arrival, their performance became inconsistent. The team ended the regular season with a 49-33 record and lost to the Indiana Pacers in the first round.

On Friday, Rivers lost on another front when he decided to weigh in on the Minneapolis shooting, something he obviously knows nothing about. Speaking at a postgame news conference, Rivers waded into the deep end of racism and stupidity and immediately started taking on water.

When asked about athletes participating in politics, Rivers answered, “What happened in Minnesota was a straight-up murder, in my opinion.”

He followed that ridiculous statement with another one:

“It’s awful. This lady was probably trying to go home, and she didn’t make it home, and that’s really sad. The whole ICE thing is, it’s a travesty.”

“It’s clear to me we’re attacking brown people, and I just happen to be brown. I don’t think it should just be brown people who are upset at this. I think we all have to be.”

Is it surprising that Rivers brought race into the mix? Not at all. Playing the race card is one of the left’s favorite things to do. They also swing rapidly from aggressor to victim faster than any other group in the country.

ICE did not murder Good. She went there to interfere with their operation, ended up doing something dangerously stupid, and paid the price. She could have obeyed the officers and gotten out of the vehicle when they instructed her to; hell, the truth is, she shouldn’t even have been there. It’s tragic when a life is lost, but when people go looking for trouble, oftentimes they find it.

Rivers wasn’t alone on the stupid stage; Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr also called the incident murder.

“It’s shameful, really, that in our country we can have law enforcement officers who commit murder and seemingly get away with it. It’s shameful that the government can come out and lie about what happened when there’s video and witnesses who have all come out and disputed what the government is saying.”

“So, very demoralizing — devastating to lose anyone’s life, especially in that manner. So, it’s terrible, terribly sad for her family, and for her, and that city.”

Since Kerr brought up video evidence, it’s clear he hasn’t seen this one, which clears the officer involved.

It’s a shame that these outspoken egomaniacs have a platform from which to expel their lies as though they were truths. The radicals out there lap this stuff up as though it were mother’s milk and then pass it on to others on the left.

The danger isn’t that they are lying; rather, the lies create an atmosphere in which almost certainly more violence will occur. Instigators like Rivers and Kerr should be viewed as aiders and abettors. They know what they are doing, they just can’t help themselves, which is exactly why they should be punished.
